Am going to Europe first week in July , and am wondering if anyone has found reasonable cover at a reasonable rate !
10 day trip, up to 10 yr old bike, single person with no medical issues.
Have always bought from a tour company eg mci before, so am looking about for any alternatives .
cheers

My breakdown insurance is provided by Carole Nash brokers as part of their normal policy. I've only had to use it once and they sorted me out efficiently. So it might be worth checking what was provided by your broker. They cover any EU member/associated member (including Croatia where I'm going this year) state plus Switzerland and Norway.
For medical/travel insurance I've stuck with World Wide Travel insurance as they have a 10% discount on renewal.
I've been able to add on extras like trackday cover when required. Their European area covers any country on the Mediteranean so I was covered for Morocco, and as far East as the Ural mountains so Im covered for the Balkans.
A lot of cheap medical/travel insurance usually doesn't cover motorbikes above 125cc. You might be covered under EU laws, but I've thought it best to have it covered myself.
For health I'm just going with NHS free European health insurance card.

Midden. Don't.
The EHIC won't fly you home if you need more than just A&E care. Ask locksmith!
Check your bank account. Many give cover but are a bit restrictive on biking holidays. Natwest does cover biking (and diving) but some don't at all or have restrictions on how long you've held your licence.
Same goes for breakdown cover.

Funny you should mention that Bob!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, MAKE SURE YOUR TRAVEL INSURANCE COVERS YOU ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE.
And when I say make sure, I mean read the small print.
In France the EHIC will cover you for 80% of hospital bills. You have to pay for any local ambulance transfers yourself AND THE RIDE HOME IN THE AMBULANCE IS TWO GRAND :eek
On the plus side I got a bed bath from a very camp male nurse in Grenoble hospital :lol

I always take out bike specific insurance because I know of the immense cost to get repatriated. Irrespective of fault , the costs have to met at the time. When you think of the potential injury you can suffer through no fault of your own, you have to be covered.
I also had a shock when I found out that for 2 yrs in the previous decade, I had relied on my de facto NatWest med policy , only to find out they restrict bikes to 125 cc!..and exclude anyone who has ever had any accident on a bike, irrespective of fault. Effectively excluding most more mature bikers from cover !..since then I have used Mci every year .
MCi will do it even if you don't book their tours , cost around £80 for both bike and medical. Last 2 yrs my bmw warranty included full euro breakdown, but that expires in June, and I was considering taking fazer, hence my enquiry.
Your experience is worth considering by anyone who baulks at cost of insurance cover....but we can still hunt around for best deals.
Pitternator, I use Natwest and they definitely cover you on bigger bikes but you must be accident free and have held your licence for three years or more.
As I was going with my son last year I had to buy him separate cover (normally covered by mine) as he had only held his licence for a few months. Only cost about £10 for the long weekend though.

Pit, that is what I try to emphasize to people that it's not expensive to get the right cover but to really make sure you have cover.
The year I cocked up I had taken out a travel policy with Insure and Go. It seemed great, covering winter sports etc etc but not bikes over 125cc. So presumably, every euro trip I made prior to that, I wasn't covered at all!
Up to last summer (some 4 years after) I still got the odd bill through the post for another 100 euro's or so for something not covered by EHIC.
The last couple of years I've used Eurotunnel's combined breakdown & travel insurance. It covers vehicles up to 15 years old & the only bike restrictions are that you have to be wearing a lid & possess a valid licence.
