We have a Gen 2 in from a bit of lay up and have got it running BUT the dash is completely blank and the rev counter doesn't move!
Power is reaching the dash cos the neutral light works as do the indicator tell tales.
All connections appear good.
Any ideas???

Hi
The dash lights are fed by the headlight fuse ( red/yellow wire )
The meter including the tacho by the backup fuse. ( red/green wire )
However, both are in the 16 connector plug & socket under the left hand infill panel which can be prone to the elements.
I'd check there first, check for corrosion, clean the contacts & coat with dielectric grease.
Goodluck
Meant to add that the neutral light has a different feed to the above so would still work.
What would be a good thing for other users to stop future corrosion on the plugs,,? wouldn spraying WD40 or GT85 in the connector be any good?
replies aprecieated :o
An ageing test pilot for home grown widgets that may fail at anytime.
This sounds like a plan, cheers

Hi Billy
When my cops failed ( well 1 at least no.4 ) I noticed significant corrosion on the cop contact & the plug.
In hindsight I feel that if I'd coated the contacts in dielectric grease from new the problem may never have arisen.
I'd say though that before you smear the contacts with grease that you inspect for any kind of corrosion first. If there is any present, look at replacing them so look out for some 2nd hand R1 cops on ebay because believe me they will fail eventually. First signs are slight stumbling.

Hey, did you get a solution and what was it? I have exactly the same problem grr
Cheers
Had to buy a second hand set of clocks.
No easy way to soften the blow - we spent 3 or 4 days solid on it in the workshop.
Was a low mileage bike too.....
