Just bought my FZ6 S2 2008. So I'm a newbie.
This may have been posted before, only 1 headlight comes on in dipped the other comes on in high beam, is there a way to make both lights come on in dipped and both come on in high beam, sorry if I'm explaining this in a daft way, it just looks odd one on and one on in normal day running.

Apparently it can be done, mine is the same but it don't bother me
I used to be one of the "two headlamps on at once" brigade but one thing has swayed me the other way - with only one headlamp on it "may" make it clearer when you flash (the high beam - stop sniggering at the back) other road users.

I was never a fan of the headlight mod either, in fact my 99 Fazer had it done when I brought it although he made a complete mess of it and never worked so I stripped all the wiring out he had done and went back to the original setup although did replace the candles they had in there with Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs which made a huge different.
Use the same bulbs on my 07 S2 now, although the original Philips were bright but the Osrams on a dark country road on full beam you can see so far ahead and both sides of the road are lit up nicely.
I'm sure I read on here somewhere or another site, maybe even a friend that they had a bike fail an MOT because of a headlight mod but that was maybe 2 years ago.
If you think about it the high beam is set at a certain angle which is checked by the beam setter, if that is correct then having a low beam on with a mod means the headlight is at a different angle to the single sided low beam so they are both set differently on low beam and only correctly set up when high beam is used so could possibly dazzle other users especially at night.
I did a police rider course about four years ago and my FZ6S2 was only two years old at the time ,whilst we were having a break on the first day I mentioned whilst we were talking bikes about the headlight - only being one bulb lite on dipped and he said it was standard on motorcycles now as through research it was found to make drivers more aware of motorcycles and as said when you flash onto full beam it makes a vast difference .
It is standard, think it was changed under some EU law for bikes built after a certain year not saying it applies every where but friend of mine did a twin headlight mod and they failed him on the MOT for it although bit like number plates and pipes I know people that do all these mods put the original back on for the MOT and swap back over as soon as they get home.
It's like most modern bikes don't have the on/off switch for lighting unless it's cheap made junk made in places you never heard of lol
