Official bike number statistics
#1
This very interesting, i never would of guessed this?
1) There are twice as many two-wheeled Hondas on the road as there are Kawasakis and Suzukis combinedThere are approximately a quarter of a million Honda motorcycles and scooters on the roads in the UK, or 77,000 more than the second-most numerous manufacturer, Yamaha (170,000). Third is Suzuki (143,200) and fourth Kawasaki (89,838). The top ten table looks like this:1)Honda247,2092)Yamaha169,8093)Suzuki143,2004)Kawasaki89,8385)Triumph79,3686)BMW55,6567)Harley40,6638)Aprilia25,2869)Ducati18,23210)KTM13,283

Figures drawn from DVLA data. These are the numbers of bikes and scooters registered by the DVLA as taxed or SORN. There will be bikes that haven’t been taxed since the SORN system was introduced in 1998; these will not show up in the figures. Although scooters are included in these figures, scooter manufacturers are not shown.

...and 30,000 of those Suzukis are Bandits - 21%.  No wonder I see so many around.

250,000 Honda is not twice as many as 143,000 Suzuki plus 90,000 Kawasaki but does show that Honda have done something right.

I wonder what the stats are in other countries.
I have the impression that honda stuff has a better finnish and more suited to our crap weather, am I wrong in thinking this, and if I am right then perhaps thats what everone else thinks and accounts for the extra hondas.
Do the police still use them and that carnt do any harm for their image
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

When was the last time you saw an advert for Kawasaki on the TV? Yamaha for that matter too?
Honda are advertising all the time. Add to that the fact that most younger lads have heard of the Fireblade and want one because they are quick and you have a sales boom.

I have a Honda because its a nice bike, very much like the FZS600 to ride and look at but newer.

That's because they make good bikes Smile  Or at least the two I've ridden were good Big Grin

It'd be interesting to see what proportion of those are 125s.

I don't think the quality is as good as it was or if it's now better than other manufacturers. My last FireBlade(RRY) was nowhere near as good as my Urban Tiger was. I could jet wash the Tiger in April with 4 months worth of winter crud and it would come up like new whereas the RRY looked awful.

But then the tiger is made with that kind of "abuse" in mind
Twaz just thinking out loud as to why there are more, if you egnore the hondas and a preceived quality boost why is yam next over the others

Just found this on the Z1000SX forum, they are not happy over there.
For my 2 pence worth Honda are turning out nothing that would tempt me to buy , they are just bloody boring.
The Kawasaki Z1000SX is the best selling bike by a country mile in Europe in the Sprots touring section.

Apparently
