Can you use any h7 kit or does it need to be specific


Just seen this for £34.99

On ebay it say fzs600 kit and then in description says h7 kit. So will both work?

I've just ordered from China a H4 kit - contains a pair of hi/lo H4 hid, plus ballasts and cabling etc.  I have arranged for them to change the kit to contain a H4 hi/lo and a H1 single beam. 
Came to around £24 inc. postage, but i expect it'll arrive on a little sailing dighy in a month's time.
I have kept all the details so i can update on how it goes and if its all ok.

H1 will fit but you'll need to get a Civic R type H1 adaptor for it

I fitted my h7 kit on the dip beam but had to use one of the plastic washers from the packing to hold the bulb in place,

Is there a correct way to convert the bulb holder or the original fitting?

Yes that's exactly what I got. It's a slightly loose fit on the bulb, but give the bulb base a wrap with electrical tape and it's fine.

I got a few spare hid sets (long story) basically I ended up with 4 sets for £50!

You can make the h1 fit the h4 side by taking the h4 plate off an old bulb. H4-2 has hid low beam, halogen high beam. I tried these but prefer the h4-3 which has the solenoid to physically move the bulb.

Going to try h4-4 which has 2 hid bulbs, one for low and one for hi, but uses 2 ballasts. Just waiting to find a bulb at the right price

At the moment the main side is still halogen as the dip has more than enough light output for me.

Wow, i just saw that my first reply to this was at the end of October!
So yeah, i ordered from China one set containing an H1 and an H4. This was around £24. 
Mid December, i was still waiting, so i ordered a set of H1 from a chinese ebay seller who was apparently shipping from UK (portsmouth), for £18.  I sent them a message asking if they could send one H1 and one H4. Some translation seems to have been lost, as 3 days later i received 2 sets of HID's in H1 (so thats 4 bulbs and 4 ballasts, plus wiring)!
So i fitted the H1's with a bit of improv.  Cut the H4 plate off an old H4 bulb, then used the Civic R Type adaptors to keep the bulb in place on both.
I assumed that the first set that i o9rdered from China were never going to arrive, so I then ordered another set from another chinese ebay seller, shipping from birmingham if i recall correctly, H4-2.  Again, £18.  This in theory meant that i would have a spare H4, 3 spare H1's and 4 spare ballasts....
BUT!
Before they arrived, china delivery turned up!  With the H1 and H4 that id asked for, and it was h4-3 (solenoid bulb).  So i fitted the H4-3 in place of my improvised H1.
And then the H4-2 kits arrived.
So now, i have a H1 and H4-3 fitted to the bike
4 spare H1's
2 spare H4-2's
6 spare ballasts.
All for the princely sum of £50 delivered!  Now, if only my car would take H1's, i'd be well set!
Attached image - 35w HID's 6k.  Apparently its not worth going to 55w as although initially they are much brighter, they also burn out the bulb far quicker and will rapidly become less bright than the 35w.

Wow!
The mrs clio is h1, Would have been straight in there!

Is the main beam still linked to the dip beam?

Also what's the light pattern like from the main beam side, is it not too dazzling for oncoming traffic?

Sorry for all the questions, just curious before I do the same on the other side on mine, I already get some drivers flashing me just for the dip beam hid.

Sure, I did the right side dip beam mod before fitting HID's, so the hid is on dip beam both sides, and the full beam flicks the h4-3 up to full beam.

The spread of light is great! I can easily see both edges of the road! I have them set quite low though, I should probably adjust them up a bit

I have recently fitted 1 HID system on the dip beam only, it has transformed the lighting , don't really need the main bean converted but when I can afford it I will, just to match and melt the tarmac..  Smile

Nice. I considered putting my ballasts there, in the end, I attached the on the inside of the fairing hidden by the infill. That way I only need to remove the infill shoul I need to get at the ballasts/wiring

i'm now considering fitting projectors (using the HID lights), as to be honest, the light isn't well concentrated, its spread a little too much.

As I wasn't completely happy with the HID's - they are definitely so much brighter, but the lights is not very focused;  I started investigating decent projectors and ended up chatting with a company in Europe about decent projectors.

The upshot is, decent  ones may be a bit of a squeeze in the limited space, so they asked me to send my headlight to them. (I've just purchased a spare to experiment on).

They are going to split the headlight, fit the projectors and make custom brackets if needed, and make me a loom with relay so power is direct from the battery and a relay controls on/hi/lo.  The projectors will do the hi/lo beams, so both lights will be hi/lo. Then they'll put the lights back together and send them back to me.

They will then be able to put together a projector kit, with loom and bracket if required, especially for the boxeye fzs600 Smile

Turnaround is expected to be 2-3 weeks.

I'll keep you posted...
