Engine bars/Crash Bungs
#1
Which would probably be the better to fit to my fzs 600 in terms of protection? Would also be worth noting that I'm planning on taking her out on track for a day or two, and to be honest that's the main reason I'm thinking of getting them! Don't really want to tempt fate and not have them  :rolleyes

And what brand is best? Went on ebay and searched for bars and there were at least 4 makes that I could tell of, crash bungs I imagine there'll be even more!

Both will likely reduce ground clearance. Bars will give best protection

I suspect that the engine bars will give the best protection at the cost of: money, weight and ground clearance.

Crash bungs are the pro/racer choice so it depends on your needs.

Having seen your riding and experience I would suggest that bungs are your best bet as you want them for the track more than anything.

The other thing is that you can get bungs for your forks and rear end as well as bars anyway. I believe the rear end ones are to protect your legs so a Damon good additional investment imo anyway.

Of course I know nowt so take it with a pinch of salt  :lol

Good point about ground clearance guys, that's not something I'd even remotely considered, but it's not great on the Fazer as it is so certainly don't want to limit it any further! Annoyingly most of the crash bungs I've seen fit onto those bolts at the bottom of the frame, will have to see if there's any sets that mount a bit higher up yet still protect the bike!

I have bungs on mine and they are solid. Got them off this guy -

I liked the quality so much I went back and bought the bar ends too. Great customer service and they fit perfect. Very good value for money. And they do not affect ground clarence at all.
Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...

Pegs are down way before any of the crash protection currently available on the market,
Engine bars are way stronger than bungs, especially for a track day.
Bungs are only good for dropping the bike at very low speeds, anything over 20 and the bungs will just bend the extended bolt required to mount them ( I have several experiences of this)

Don't think crash protection is the be all end all solution for a track crash, at high speeds the bike can easily flip when hitting grass/ gravel!

The renntec crash bars are very strong - but they do reduce ground clearance.  Normal pegs with hero blobs will hit the deck first but the bars aren't far behind!
