New boots
#1
As we head into the hottest weekend so far this year, I've decided to buy myself new winter boots!

Bought myself a pair of TCX Infinity gore tex boots after reading a lot of good write ups about them.

They came yesterday, bought them from Sports Bike Shop on line so I was a bit worried about sizing etc.

I bought size 44, same size as my Alpinestar Hydro Sport Dry Star's (yeah right, shower proof more like) and tried them on. Perfect!

Just what they said on the tin, good fit out of the box but will take a bit of wearing in of course.

Chuffed.

Good choice fella!! Had mine for over 3 yrs now and only just coming round to needing replacing (i drag my toe on tight right hand take offs). Totally waterproof, cool in the summer, warm in the winter and all day walk about comfy. I wouldn't buy anything else.

Little tip - rather than counting the "clicks" for the buckle fastening each time, add a small black elastic band to the remainder nearest the boot.
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

I'm going to have to get some boots soon. Had Sidi Black Rains, but were too narrow for me (not to mention too damned expensive these days). Are these TCX perhaps wider?

I can confirm that the TCX's are wider. I borrowed a pair of black rain's in my size from the son in law and where they were waterproof, they cut the toes off me! Lots of room in front.

Good tip Frosties!

Looked at the Infinity, but I wanted something a bit less substantial. Bought a pair of TCX X-Tour Goretex. Also superb.

Mega Store in Swindon, near me, do TCX, so I'll check both models out. Ta for that.

They look like good boots.

Though I'm still wearing the Altberg boots I bought back in 1999.  Might buy another pair next year.

I fancied Altbergs but I didn't want to wait for them to be made, there was a shop in London but the sizes they had didn't fit very well, too tight. The only option was to go to Yorkshire for a fitting!
