fazer bhp
#1
when I purchased my 08 plate fz1 fazer in march I did so under the impression that the power output was 150bhp...it even said so on the advertisement board in the showroom. I also read reviews about the fazer that stated the same thing. Recently I bought and had installed a power commander, with a custom map done on a dynojet rolling road. I'm more than happy with the power commander...it seem to have smoothed out the acceleration and made the bike easier to handle for a novice like myself. It wasn't untill I got home that I looked at the power output printout, which showed a 'before' of 136bhp and 'after' of 138bhp!!!???? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? The only modification I've done is to install a k&n air filter....everything else on the bike is stock. How has the bike lost 14bhp from new? It's only done 6000 miles!!

the makers bhp figures could have been measured at the crankshaft the rolling road measures it at the back wheel between the crank and the wheel is where the difference is

150bhp is the figure claimed by Yamaha at the crankshaft. 130-135bhp at the rear wheel is more realistic depending on condition of air filter/plugs, general condition.

150bhp is fairly easy to obtain with the right mods, do a search on here and on http://yamahafz1oa.com/forum/index.php?s=. You will be able to work out how much bang (and in what part of the rev range) you can get for your bucks.

Good luck and let the spending beginĀ  :lol
