Fazer 400 New Clutch?
#1
Hey guys, i bought myself a little 1997 fazer 400 as my first inline 4 last week and i love it!! everything was fine until i filled it up with too much oil. I drained the oil a little bit after 1 day of use and topped it up a little. Ever since over spilling i notice the slutch slipping slightly in gear 3.

Is this a coincidence or would it be normal for a clutch to slip after over filling with engine oil?

Cheers guys

What oil did you use?

Fully synthetic (or car oil) can make it slip a bit.

I used 4T motorcycle oil. Can that still make it slip if over filled?

Also, lets just say it was car oil, would the clutch slip permanantly or would it fix itself after a while?

When i get home i will check the bottle to see if its fully synthetic and I'll let you know.

With car oil, it is the friction inhibitors that fec up the clutch as on a bike the clutch is in the oil unlike a car clutch.

It should sort itself out eventually.

ok so ive just checked the bottle and it is fully synthetic.

its Shell Advance Ultra 4T 10W-40 4T oil.

so im guessing this is causing the slip?

what is the best oil to use for a fazer 400?

if the problem wasn't there before and it is now then its most likely the oil thats causing the problem. i have castrol power 1 semi synthetic "bike oil" in my one. i personally would put car oil in it.
