tail pack ? or another suggestion?
#1
as i play in a brass band, i'd love to be able to go to rehearsal on my bike (fortunately i play the cornet not bass!)
does anyone know of a tail pack or similar that would hold my cornet ?
needs to be 400x350x170mm minimum.
i'm tempted by the hard luggage (givi, etc.) but i can't justify the expense.
any help would be appreciated Smile

That's about the same size, if not a bit smaller than my sax case and I've had that on the back of my Fazer with cargo nets in the past.
Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad

HG do a strappable grip bag , waterproof for £29. They also do roll packs as cheap as £10, which probably would do the job .

Can you not use a cheap rucksack from Go-Outdors or somewhere similar?

:agree

I know they are not everyones cup of tea but they can be used for a lot more than a cornet. No need to strap to your bike so therefor no unwanted marks/scratches. Only thing I would say is make sure it's a waterproof one.

Nope but when the van comes around our way we ask for an ice cream cornet
An ice cream cone, poke or cornet is a dry, cone-shaped pastry usually made of a wafer [source wiki]

i use one of these for getting my kit to and from my squash club, they are well made, comfortable and durable. there's a few variations on essentially the same shape bag from different manufacturers but they should fit your cornet and other associated requirements pretty well.

hope that helps.
is it clean enough?

was expecting a few more "i'll have a flake in mine please" type comments  :lol
i'd really prefer to use something i can put on the bike rather than a rucksack as i'll probably have to have a rucksack on as well to carry mutes / music / stand / etc....
most of the things i have seen would only hold my cornet if it were stood up on end (think small suitcase or thicker briefcase) and whilst notoverly heavy, it would be quite annoying to have it banging into my back if i had to brake hard.
it might end up that i'll have to use a large rucksack, but i'll hold that in reserve until all other options are exhausted Smile
any further suggestions would be appreciated Smile
