samsung galaxy s3 help
#1
just got one of these and am sort of happy with it apart from one major niggle. facebook and twitter work fine when i click on them from the app page but when i click on the internet (a blue earth) or google the display goes to about 30% light level and is just about unreadable. everything else works fine but this is getting to the point where i am going to send it back and carry on with my old iphone. the brightness is on max and is crystal clear till i try internet or google. please help :wall :wall :wall :wall

The Samsung S2 had a setting under Display or brightness (along those lines) that changed the the brightness of the screen depending on image displayed, this meant web pages that were mainly white the brightness would reduce considerably

It was still on the S2 when you put the Ice Cream operating system on it, so would suggest the S3 has the same feature

i had the same problem on mine ....
goto settings
...display
...check your auto adjust screen power is ticked
..as that will make the internet brightness lower .
try unticking it to see if it makes any difference .

done that and it made very little difference. i found a manual online and it shows how to switch off all the power saving gubbins and that made it just about live-able. after 3 years with an iphone its going to take a long time to love it...if ever. the iphone 6 will be out when this contract is up  :thumbup

This was driving me crazy as well.  When you open the Internet globe and the screen dims, click the menu button (bottom left) and scroll down the list and there is a brightness setting. This sets the brightness specific to that app.

I've got the S2 and sometimes I find it very hard to read the screen in strong sunshine, is this something that only occurs with touch screen phones as I never had issues with me older normal phone or is it just my phone and what can I do about it?
also, sometimes the screen brightness dims to nothing .......when I look at the screen brightness (as recommended above) my auto brightness is off and the bar will have moved right over to the left, why is this happening and how do I stop it?
cheers

I just bought the S2, great deals on them.  It's taking me time to get the hang of it as it's an upgrade from my 2005 Nokia 1100!

The bleedin battery seems to want charged every day or so.  The Nokia would run for a week or two on one charge.

my battery was that bad I thought it was faulty so contacted the Co. (fones 4u) got sent a voucher for £25 which I used to get an extended battery (with a free phone back as the bat is slightly thicker)
all seems good now and I also downloaded the free app....juice defender....which helps your battery too (google it)
plug your phone into your pc and download Samsung Kies and you can update to the ice cream sandwich....this update is what theyre using on the S3 you will see the change in your settings go from something like "running gingerbread 2.1.2 or whatever, to 4.1 or something

I got it to make texting easier.  I was never any good with predictive text, and of course today everybody is texting, so it was time for something more up to date.

Plus I can get weather forecasts when I'm away from home and thinking of heading into the hills.

I take it I have to sign up for a google account to download aps?  This is all new to me.

Wanted an iphone, but it was over 30 quid a month for an iphone, or 20.50 a month for the S2, easy choice.
