Rev Counter Pulsing to 9k rpm
#1
Hi all just tried to start the bike after its winter lay up.  Tried to start it and all I got was the starter relay chattering and the Rev Counter going from zero to 9k and back again, have seen this before but only to 7k and this beening the exup valve.

Any idea what the 9k means??????????

thanks for reading..

Hi,
according to the manual it is the overturn sensor.
For future reference: 3000 revs = the TPS
                                  4000 = speed sensor
                                  7000 = the dreaded exup and
                                  9000 = the overturn switch
Hope this helps Smile

What is the overturn switch, and where is it located.

The tip over switch is a little black box behind the battery to the right hand side with a 'B' on top of it.

It can get stuck so you may be lucky with tapping it with a hammer.

The overturn switch is a safety device so the engine does not run if the bike is on its side (and oil would not circulate properly).  I don't actually know how the Fazer one works, but some are just a ball bearing or other weight that if not upright will cut the bike out.  It is this that can just stick in the wrong place, so a few taps of the box with a hammer may sort the problem out (don't smash the box, just gentle taps on all sides - or even take it off and shake it as it is only held on with 2 screws, but replace the right way up!).  Also check the wiring going to/from the box.

I keep such pictures on my phone in case of situations just like this  Big Grin (OK, I had not deleted it since I replaced the undertray and took the picutres so I could work out where everything went when re-assembling - although I would like to point out that I have now tidied up the wiring).

Hi,  I know this an old thread.
I am stuck outside work with a buzzing solenoid and a bouncing to 9k tacho.
Where can I buy one of these overturn switches?  Google is giving 0 results.
Thanks in advance.

Ryan.
