Check yer bikes folks, especially those of us in the 'Weeg
#1
Having passed a pleasant fifteen minutes with a brace of mounted Strathclyde's finest last Thursday whilst out for my lunch I 'd suggest we all check our bikes over.
Rode past the same two tonight pulling someone over on a Gixxer, so reckon they're checking all the bikes coming out of hibernation to make sure they're all legal-ified and the like.
(Dude on the Gixxer did come across as a knob mind you, Great Western Road at 16:45 and redlined it in the first two gears away from the lights at Oran Mor, not as if there are any schools in the area or anything...)

My experience was comedy gold, if a smidge wtf?
"We stopped you as we didn't know what it was. Are you a courier and do you ever wash it?"
So, after a full pnc(?) check and a going over of the bike "What tyres are those? Chain could do with oiling. Clean your forks, Where's your numberplate light?" I was let on my way with a cheery "Wash it ya lazy foccer!!" and a check on file.

Fair play to them, me numberplate light DOES need replacing, the lead is currently tucked under the seat and her bi-annual clean and ACF treatment is due next payday.
They thought she was an off roader that someone had ziptied a number plate to...

So, make sure all is good and you've got the tax and insurance in place folks, looks to be the start of the Spring Stop 'n Check.

Got stopped last year just short of Arrochar (heading South).

Tyre, chain, tax, plate check and on my way.

Doesn't bother me.  Though as long as they know the difference between a tyre that's near the end of it's life and taking the piss.

Glad they didnt "check" me when I was chasing a Skyline last night on the way home  :rolleyes

Cheers for the heads up - I'm due a new rear tyre anyway so best to get that sorted this weekend.

We have "Operation Zenith" up here runs from begining of April to end of October. The fuzz run about on marked up bikes stopping any foccer on two wheels handing out info on advanced riding etc, if you have not got protective gear etc they give you the full works lecture, one of my mates was "held up" for a good half hour and was not best pleased. They also run a blue R1 which they try to race you with just so they can get a tug.
If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.

we talked about this on another thread....but my rule of thumb is , if anyone catches me up, I let them pass and go...could be undercover cop etc. If they R genuinely faster , its no shame to let them go.I ride at my pace, fast or slow...that way I stay in control.Hopefully will keep me sunnyside up. Racing others may end in disaster, especially if they R expert son a road you dont know well....so easy to overdo it in such circumstances.

Waitrose dear boy, Waitrose.
Wink

Jon, it was full livery bearing ones.
Saw them again tonight, nice to see them out and about really as they had to scrap they're entire fleet of Pans a few years back after just buying all new ones.
This is them just about getting back up to strength.

Just more a nod as it's not the first foccers outing I've been on when folks have realised the tax is up or some such.
