Condensation in engine
#1
I bought a gen 1 the other week. I noticed that there was a little white sludge on the filler cap and top of clutch housing. The bike had only done 5 miles in the last year and was hardly used the year before, so i think he had been going into the garage and firing it up every so often to keep the battery charged. This obviously can cause condensation in the engine. I have driven it only 30 odd miles and it's still there. I changed the oil the other day. Any suggestions on how to clean it out?
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

If it doesn't clear after a good thrash then it could be due to a stuck thermostat keeping the engine too cool... or a failed gasket allowing coolant to leak internally. Does the rad stay cool until the engine is noticeably warm? Does the coolant keep needing a top-up?

I know that using it may clear it up, but my work is only 4 miles away, so that ain't going to clear it. i thought driving it back from the previous owners house (30 miles) would have done it. I have ran it in the garage for 15 mins ticking over, so that it gets really hot and taking the filler cap off (hoping it would allow condensation out). Bike has to get a mot, so not able to thrash the nuts off it yet. I was more hoping for some kind of flushing agent that could be used.

Almost certainly nothing wrong with the bike as said. No answer to it really on such short journeys. It will clear itself if you do a long journey in the summer.

Longer trips will help it stop building up, its very common in winter.

Personaly I would ignore it.

I had a window clutch once that was a real pain with it in winter.
But honestly its not causing harm realy so ignore it untill spring then pop the case off and clean the window
