Looked at a Steel end Can example at J&S Northwich yesterday, the quality looked good. For the owners who have invested in one have there been any real problems or disappointments, did it fit OK?

I've had a few scorpion cans on various bikes over the years and they all fitted fine. Build quality is quite good and they seem to last fairly well. I would class them somewhere in the middle regarding build quality. Nowhere near as good as akrapovic, but much better than cheap chinese stuff. Hope this helps

If it's broken, it's not fixed.

I have a Scorpion on my machine and its a very well made piece of kit. It fits perfectly and, with that and an Ivan's kit, the bike suns really well.
Nickodemon's quote about Akrapovic being better is interesting as they are one and the same thing. The company originally traded as Scorpion and later changed it's name. So basically, whether your can has Scorpion or Akrapovic on it it has come from the same company. So basically, whether your can has Scorpion or Akrapovic on it it has come from the same company.Found that an interesting comment so did a quick google. According to their website Akrapovic were founded by Igor Akrapovic in Slovinia in 1990 and were originally branding their exhausts as "Skorpion in Scorpion" but changed this to Akrapovic in 1997 because their brand was similar to other manufacturers. Scorpions website doesn't say when they were founded but does state "Scorpion Exhausts are proud to be a British manufacturer and exporter to over 30 countries". So whilst I can see where some confusion between the two names could come from and why Akrapovic changed their name, what evidence I found seems to suggest that they never were one and the same company. Don't know if anyone else has any proof one way or the other?

If Scorpion cans come off the same production line as Akrapovic, I'll eat my Akra.
![]() The only connection is the name ... design and construction quality is completely different. Like Nickodemon said, the Scorpion stuff is good, reliable, mid-budget priced stuff. Mike

It looks like the misunderstanding is mine. I understoood that Akrapovic were previously known as and sold their products as Scopion and later changed to Akra - as indicated on their site. I hadn't come accross the UK-based Scorpion brand, which looks to be a completely seperate entity.

Hi ,If you fit a scorpion can do you have to rejet the carbs?
Also nice bike Karlo, what brand of seat is that. It looks comfy. Regards Rafer

No carb rejetting, tho I am led to believe not to fit a K&N filter to an unjetted bike but mine already had one that I didn't know was fitted, It was fine and seemed to run better when I fitted the can, then came full monty and man what a difference
![]() Seat, I am reliably informed by a top man and forum member from whom it was purchased Is a Tony Archer and it is much more comfortable than the original.

Seat was indeed from Tony Archer but done to a design I sent him. It took two attempts to get it right and I don't think Tony would be falling over himself to do another like it.

Think I read somewhere thatAkrapovic is Slovenian for Scorpion which is why his cans were called Scorpion.
But Scorpion UK already existed so Akra had to change their name cos of copyright etc so two seperate companies entirely. Simples ![]()
Its better to ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake.
