Renthal drilling and tapping - WayneUK - 03-02-20 I've just fitted some renthal 785's and was wondering what drill and tap I will need t be able to fit original bar ends? Re: Renthal drilling and tapping - Mustang - 03-02-20 It’s m16 x 1.5 Re: Renthal drilling and tapping - robbo - 04-02-20 Yep, M16 at 16 tpi(threads per inch). Re: Renthal drilling and tapping - WayneUK - 04-02-20 when i took it to a engineer he told he it was a M16 x 1.5 taper tap and a 14.5 mm drill bit? Re: Renthal drilling and tapping - robbo - 04-02-20 If you have access to an engineering workshop, I believe the proper way is to predrill the bars before tapping them. My pal on the otherhand just wound the tap into the bar and it worked out fine. I paid for the workshop process to the tune of £35 :eek . My pals bars cost him a pint in the pub. :lol Pretty sure the 1.5 x the tap size is the same as 16tpi, but stand to be corrected ![]() Re: Renthal drilling and tapping - WayneUK - 04-02-20 (04-02-20, 09:38 AM)robbo link Wrote: If you have access to an engineering workshop, I believe the proper way is to predrill the bars before tapping them. Apparently workshop time is £70 an hour, minimum charge half an hour. Should have asked first I suppose, but thought it was a 5 minute job and would be priced accordingly. Lesson learnt, for sure. :'( Re: Renthal drilling and tapping - WayneUK - 05-02-20 Well, Tap came today so had a go at tapping them, and everything went real smoooth, and bar ends fit perfectly :thumbup |
