Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 01-12-16

Makes sense mate, they look well thought out too

Re: Thought i would try these - slimwilly - 01-12-16

I have fitted them, fit good, just a bit more protection as I now do track days on it ,

Re: Thought i would try these - devilsyam - 01-12-16

real value is in not using them

They look good, how much were they? If you don't mind me asking?

I looked into the R&G ones that cover the whole stator and clutch casing but they pretty much worked out more expensive than originals ??

Haha Luke, just trying to preserve the bike incase it goes down,it has big crash bungs on too but these may just help a bit more. :\

Re: Thought i would try these - slimwilly - 03-12-16

These were them

The China man brought them on his bicycle , well it took about as long, 6 weeks

Re: Thought i would try these - Dudeofrude - 04-12-16

Certainly not a bad price. You'll have to stick up some pics when you've fitted them so we can see what they look like ?

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

I'm with you Bill, a spill isn't always our fault, sometimes fate decidesit for us, anything that helps protect your pride and joy, especially if it's cheap, makes proper sense. I bought a mint zzr1100 with 6k on the clock that has never been dropped a few months ago as I want a useable modern classic. First thing I did once I'd got it running and cleaned up, serviced, new rubber, carbs overhauled, tank cleaned out etc was buy some cheap damaged bodywork that I sprayed in 2k black along with second hand exhaust cans so I can use it and put the nice bodywork on come summer. Full fairings make great engine protectors ;-)

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

Shite Bodywork and cans came in at under £150 needed lots of filling and plastic welding( with a soldering gun lol)

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

Ready for primer..had to melt washers in to replace broken lugs

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

2k primer

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

Flatted down then lots of coats of 2k gloss black, piled on deep and heavy, want it so no lacquer and if I get a scratch it will just polish out

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

More foccing flat ting working from 240,400,600,800,1000,1200,1500,2000 ,2500 and finally polishing compound and a buffer..

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

Viva la crash panels..:-)

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

I actually far prefer the all black look to the original 90's shell suit it was wearing in truth :-)

Re: Thought i would try these - dazza - 04-12-16

Good job there Ogri.  :thumbup  Fantastic idea melting a washer to replace a broken lug.

Re: Thought i would try these - ogri48 - 04-12-16

Necessity is the mother of invention as they say mate, I didn't have a clue how to fix the missing lug til I was using the soldering iron to meld the cracked panels and thought" ah...I know what I'll do..";-) once I'd got a washer heated up and pressed into each side I filled it all with melted plastic from a bit of old abs fairing then shaped it with the dremel :-)

Nothing can save that poor bike from the rider  :lol

Re: Thought i would try these - slimwilly - 06-12-16

Well I do look after it, now I am using it on the track I have bought a spare set of wheels with the wet tyres on. Front fairing, and looking for others a d will do a paint job, filter and oil just turned up, let's have some fun next spring, and believe me it's fun
