FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - chris1969 - 18-09-15 For Sale - 2003 FZS1000 - £1650 ono I bought this last year as a Cat "C" damaged bike project to fix up and get back on the road. I've just bought a new bike which cost me a few quid more than I was planning, so this one has to go. It had taken a whack to the front end so forks were mullered, front wheel had a big ding in it, fairing was badly damaged, bars bent and levers snapped. It's now fixed and ready to ride with a new years MOT. Currently on SORN. I read that it can be sometime tricky to insure Cat "C" bikes, but I had to insure this in order to ride it for it's MOT check & had no problems at all. Bike has 52k miles on the clock. The work done, any parts replaced were either new or used from a low mileage bike: Used forks fitted Wilbers rear shock fitted (approx 12k miles on it) Carbs cleaned out as they had old fuel in them Fairing replaced & given a respray New EBC brakepads fitted front & rear. Replaced all disc bolts Low mileage downpipes fitted, new exhaust studs & nuts Standard exhaust can fitted New Renthal low bars with R&G bar ends New aftermarket brake & clutch levers Replaced radiatior, this has been checked & leak free Complete wiring loom replaced as the bike was originally fitted with a very complicated alarm which I wanted to ditch. New battery Any nasty anodized bolts replaced with stainless/originals Low mileage seat Suspension linkage replaced & regreased. New sealed steering head bearings Wheels checked & adjusted for allignment. Dent in front wheel repaired All the work on the front end (head bearings etc) was checked by my local bike engineer & got the thumbs up. Still to do: Probably could do with a service, oil change, plugs etc. The bike has no service history so I can't be sure as to the last time that was done. EXUP cable may need adjusting. The valve works fine, but the cable has an adjuster, so I don't know if that is at the correct setting, this should be looked at as part of the service. There is a faint rattle at the header pipes, not quite sure what causing it, it's not awful, sounds a little like a cam chain rattle. I think thats about it, I've tried to be as upfront as I can so there should be no surprises. As the bike is on SORN I can't offer any test rides I'm afraid. Drop me a PM if interested. Based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - b1k3rdude - 20-09-15 Even as a Cat D thats a cheap bike, perfect for commuting. And considering the mileage its in good nick. Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - chris1969 - 01-10-15 Still open to sensible offers on this. Has to go at some point and it would be a shame to break it. According to Bike Trader, this was actually a Cat "C" write off, I don't know if I should take that as gospel or not, I'm going to chase this with the DVLA tomorrow for some advice. There is nothing on the V5 nor was it mentioned when I insured & got the MOT done. Anyway, I've dropped the price to £1500. Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - chris1969 - 11-10-15 Dropped to £1400, Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - nickodemon - 14-11-15 still for sale? Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - Billy Balthorpe - 15-11-15 £1400 quid?? Why hasn't someone bought this? Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - AyJay - 16-11-15 (15-11-15, 01:42 AM)Billy Balthorpe link Wrote: £1400 quid?? Why hasn't someone bought this? 1) It's Cat C 2) If the impact was heavy enough to trash the forks, fairing, bars etc, gord knows what else might be lurking - bent frame, engine damage etc 3) No service history 4) It's November 5) It needs a service 6) 53k miles Other than that, I'd have had it for a winter commuter. But seriously, although it looks good, it's just too much of a risk even at £1400. Re: FS: 2003 FZS1000 Fazer 1000 - nickodemon - 16-11-15 I would buy the bodywork ![]() |
