Paddock Stands... - anutz - 29-04-15

Just a bit of info, I ordered one of these as they look good....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400908897249

I shall let people know if it works ok - I tried to do some work with the bike jacked up and putting the wheel back in on my own with no paddock stand was almost impossible

I like this one as it seems it will not get in the way of any removal of the axel or sensors etc..

Re: Paddock Stands... - Punkstig - 29-04-15

Never had a problem with doing that work on the centre stand!

Re: Paddock Stands... - anutz - 29-04-15

How do you get the front wheel clearance off the ground - I don't want to be wedging crap under the exhaust as I have had problems when I snapped an engine stud and don't want to put load where it should not be....?

Re: Paddock Stands... - crickleymal - 29-04-15

I have a box full of lead (180lb) which I put on the ground and attach to the passenger handles with ratchet straps.

Re: Paddock Stands... - midden - 29-04-15

Did you check the width before placing the order? it doesn't look adjustable

Re: Paddock Stands... - anutz - 29-04-15

no  Smile

But it does list the FZS 600 as a compatible bike....

Re: Paddock Stands... - Jules-C - 29-04-15

I put my toolbox on bike rack when taking front wheel off and insurance policy of a jack under exhaust but it's not really taking any weight

Re: Paddock Stands... - anutz - 29-04-15

I am scared to do anything that touches or puts pressure on the exhaust after the trauma I just went through Smile

So the stand for 40£ is hopefully spot on

Handy hint for getting a bike on a rear paddock stand that only has a side stand - put the side stand on a bit of wood to raise the bike up more to the vertical 8)

Do many people remove their centre stand on Fazers, I wandered the other day....?

Re: Paddock Stands... - sinto607276 - 29-04-15

Forget paddock stands, get one of these bad boys, mines is origanal green though so doesn't match my fast red fzs600

Rarely, it's normally only removed if the bikes lowered!

tbf it was quite easy to work on then on its side :lol

yeh sorry guys...confusing matters there maybe as I got a gen 2 which happens to have had the centre stand removed but that isn't common.......it just made life easier when I heard about it.

Oh you just can't help yourself, bet you've learned a lot since your first post lol

Re: Paddock Stands... - anutz - 01-05-15

oh yes, I remember struggling to get the vacuum caps off the carbs to check the sync....and then its kind of gone nutz....

especially with the exhaust stud snap and subsequent bodge/repair and re-assembly...and I have had to strip it down again as the tensioner gasket I neglected to replace ( should have...I knew it! ) leaked...new ones on the way should be here tomorrow...

so thought I would do the brakes...

what could possible go wrong Smile

At least I am looking at something I am better with soon - electrical/electronic

Re: Paddock Stands... - sinto607276 - 01-05-15
