Fz1 which oil semi or fully - daveclark - 20-04-15

What's best engine oil for gen2? I've had some fully synthetic given castrol power1 racing 10w-40.
Question is will it make the clutch slip?

Dave

I just changed mine from own brand "high mileage" semi-synth to Castrol GTX 10-w40 semi-synth. I think that as long as you avoid anything that mentions fuel economy on the label, you should be fine.

Cheers fella, not many get back to you on here?? Reading around its a bit vague on what you can get away with using, sounds like I may be better sticking to semi.

Yeah i use Motul Semi Syth. Heard fully may increase slipping.

Castrol Power 1 Racing is one of the best oils there is on the market. It was designed for high performance motorcycle engines.
It's in my S1000r & it was used in Mr Brooker's FZ1 for nearly 30k miles until I changed to Halfords fully synthetic.

It is odd how many people think fully synth causes clutch slip...

I used castrol power 1 in mine (and all my previous bikes), internals look perfect even after doing high mileage.  Currently use Silkolene/fuchs pro 4 fully synth in the gen1, perfect.

Well after looking round there seems to be a debate but no one has ever had any slipping
