Hi all, I bought some EBC hh pads for the fazer but the packaging says for track usage - not approved for the road. Anyone who why? Do ya reckon they will be okay?

I was about to post saying surely they would be fine if they stop you okay, but Googlre showed up this:
EBC GPFAX Race Only Brake Pads for Suzuki
IMPORTANT NOTE - NOT FOR ROAD/STREET USE
The high friction levels delivered by this compound is for use with race tyres only on closed circuits. It is unsuitable for street/low adhesion road surfaces and will invalidate road insurance as NOT ECE R 90 approved nor TUV tested with German ABE making use on the public highway illegal in many countries.

I thought maybe your pads were intended for Germany where everything has to be be TUV tested but the following talks about the UK:

I'm sure for any practical purposes they'll be fine, but no expert here as it's the first I've heard of these rules. Thought I would post the above if only to open up discussion.

Paul, I'm looking at the packaging for EBC HH right now - it seems there are 3 types:-
HH Sintered Pads
HH Trackday Pads
HH Full Race Pads
The first two are TUV approved, the last isn't. Which type you have, is shown on the front of the packet. I've used in HH Sintered in both my bikes for years, and now in the charity bikes - no issues at all.
How are you getting on with that XS400 :lol

FA252HH are the ones I have in front of me - nowt wrong with the ones I have (I hope!!), but the packaging is slightly different from the pic in the ebay link. Where the link pic says "superbike, streetsport and race formula", mine says "Double-H Sintered Brakes". Does look like yours need to go back :'(

Doh - looked at the packaging again - I thought there was a handwritten X across the third option meaning this pack is the option i have bought and it is the option which not for road use. It's actually a very large printed X meaning if you have bought this option it's not for road use. The pack is the sintered hh so all good.

Yeah looks fine, I'm using ebc fa252 at present although organic not hh sintered, have used the sbd sintered in past they were fine.

Most shops just stock the "standard" HH road pads. I don't like em. The guy I take my bike to says he gets nothing but good feedback about em. But I found em to be hard on discs. I'm using them one last time on his advice. They stop the bike ok, but I find they have a lack of feel compared to whatever was in there before. Wish I knew what those were, as they seemed to last and last too. I suspect they were gen Yam.
Heard nothing but horror stories about organics.

Have tried them all, had ebc ceramics on it when I got it and feel was really great, then tried sbs sintered and were fine, but now favour organics due to them being softer on the discs. More dust, but I look after my brakes and clean regularly so never been a problem since I got to grips with that side of the maintenance. As for feel of course that's subjective and a matter of personal preference, myself I prefer progressive to crisp, and so the organics fit. But all types have been fine.

They need warming up for full effect, fine for a track with heavy usage, not so good in an emergency stop on a cold, wet day on a Monday morning in traffic.
Avoid sintered on the rear, they eat discs like they're made of cheese.

If anyone needs front pads then these are seriously good value.
Been using them for quite a while now and they just seem everlasting, and are very easy on the discs.
