The right shock advice, but unfortunately for the Fzs 600 you need to mod it a bit more than for the Fzs 1000
I found this out when I fitted one last year:

Handily, I will have four converted R6 shocks for sale soon which have only done run-in mileages; if you're interested, drop me a PM

Go on... how much? Pm me Smile

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - Yamazer-92 - 22-06-14

I may also be interested in one of these if you're selling them, do they work with a jack up kit?

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - kebab19 - 23-06-14

Have PM'd everyone interested so far & will have an additional 5th shock coming my way for conversion soon.
Can't understand why all the phenomenal interest now as virtually no-one seemed bothered when I posted the conversion details a year ago... unless perhaps everyone's standard shock is now shagged ;-)

Yamazer: As the R6 shock is a different length in comes with much shorter dogbones than the standard setup; to jack things up further you'd need even shorter 'bones, probably around 123mm centre-to-centre

To Kebab 19

I'm interested, my back shock's been shagged for at least five years now.

i really like the tophat spacer for shimming down the upper mount, must have been a really smart and handsome fella that came up with that idea ;0

Its because people would rather buy a ready made solution, than buy a shock, buy a spring, get the spring fitted, decide how to deal with the upper mount, get some dog's made up...  Much easier just to pay a little extra and have that already done.
Did the shocks come from Ireland?

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - bootz76 - 24-06-14

Let me know how much as i was gonna get a hagon in a couple of weeks

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - kebab19 - 24-06-14

Full credit where it's due, thanks to DCurzon for the implementing the top-hat idea where I was just impatient in wanting to see if the shock could be made to fit  Smile
Three shocks came from Ireland, one from Berkshire and one from London.

I will PM everyone else interested shortly, but suspect there wont be enough hardware to go round.  Nor do I have access to any more R6 shocks after these five  Sad

Oh yes, just to state that these shocks are:

£200 each including insured postage.

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - dcurzon - 24-06-14

That's a fair and reasonable price I'd say. And good on you for making them up as an 'out of the box' item.  A comparable shock would cost around £400 notes.

Cheers

O.K so can i just ask,how long would you expect it to take a time served yam mechanic to fit this, are we talking about a couple of hours.Just so i know what i would expect the  cost is to fit.
Regards Ady

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - kebab19 - 24-06-14

Dcurzon: Thanks, I tried to keep costs to a minimum, just need to keep the wife in cheap wine

Adrian: Re Fitment: Difficult to be exact as I've replaced shock four times now so have got it down to an hour now.
I'd say two hours providing he completely removes the underside suspension linkage, allowing room for the shock to be fitted up into place from underneath the swingarm.  It's the top compression reservoir that's the awkward part to get through the swingarm's hole, and if the linkage remains in place it gouges the shock spring as you try to get the shock up into position. Actually, come to think of it I'm not even certain you can get the shock up into position without removing the linkage!

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - Adrian6171 - 25-06-14

O.K Thanks Jeff

Re: Rear Shock service, where? How much? - dcurzon - 25-06-14

its pretty easy to self fit. Wheel off, suspension linkage off (and it could probably do with a clean and grease up anyway), old shock off.
Tophat spacers in, fit top of shock into place, linkages back in, dogbones on, wheel back on.
Home mechanic 2 hours tops.
