rattling exup - red98 - 09-11-13 started the thou up this morning and left it running at 2000rpm on choke and noticed a rattle coming from the exup valve, knocked the choke off and it stopped, just rattles at 2000....serviced and greased earlier in the year and no problems.......so how often do you service/grease the valve or do i have another problem ? Re: rattling exup - dazza - 09-11-13 I had the same a little while ago, I adjusted the cables located on the right hand side of the tank to take out the slack and the rattle disappeared. Maybe worth a try. Re: rattling exup - red98 - 10-11-13 cheers dazza.....greased and adjusted at the begining of the year, not sure of mileage this year but its probably more than i think.had a big trip to john o groats in the summer.2500 miles in 10 days ![]() ![]() Re: rattling exup - red98 - 24-11-13 gave the mighty thou a clean this morning and decided to look at the exup valve to see if i could find the rattle...everything came apart easy thanks to the copper grease and stainless bolts i fitted in the spring ![]() no not the 50p :rolleyes :rolleyes .....the metal spacer, started it up and all nice and quiet ![]() Re: rattling exup - steeeve66 - 24-11-13 There's one at each end of the shaft arm (4) numbered 9 on this link: http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/genuineparts/9023/12/yamaha%20fzs1000%20fazer/exhaust?uID=0 I'd guess yours is the one at the far end, opp the pulley and cables, and wasn't inserted correctly hence the rattling? Re: rattling exup - red98 - 24-11-13 mmmm...just had a look at that...is`nt that the bush , one each end ? was thinking that was the problem before i stripped it but both bushes are fine ![]() Re: rattling exup - steeeve66 - 24-11-13 Pretty sure what you've pictured is the collar (9) which is drawn a little out of proportion on the diagram. Hmm. Odd. Is your Exup in bits still? Perhaps post a picture of the other collars as well? I've just put mine back together this morning and cert the collars looked like the photo you've posted.. Re: rattling exup - nickodemon - 24-11-13 It's an engine mount spacer. It's common when fitting crash bungs / belly pan the spacer that sits inside the rubber gets pushed out when refitting mounting bolts and ends up sitting on the downpipes. You won't notice it missing because when engine mounting bolts put back in you won't notice it's not there. On second thoughts - does look a bit big to be the collar, nick's prob correct.. Re: rattling exup - red98 - 24-11-13 ah.....bike did have crash bars fitted when i bought it,i took them off so might have misplaced the spacer then....will check the mountings a bit closer ![]() Re: rattling exup - nickodemon - 24-11-13 I think the spacer goes in from the back, but not 100% sure. Only one mount on each side has the spacer. Re: rattling exup - Tmation - 24-11-13 :agree Mr Nick he be right ![]() I had seen a warning about about it in another thread, so kept my eye (and ear) on it. Re: rattling exup - red98 - 24-11-13 ah.....the pennys dropped.....i recently fitted a camera mount to the front mount, must have knocked it out then :o Re: rattling exup - red98 - 26-11-13 well done NICKODEMON ![]() ![]() Re: rattling exup - nickodemon - 27-11-13 Glad to help ![]() |
