Problem at high revs - bignoggin - 29-04-13 Hi my fazer 600 has developed a problem at high revs, when riding normally its fine but if i go past 8k theirs a point were it stutters/bogs then overcomes it, ive cleaned the carbs, replaced plugs, air filter and coils if anyone could give me some advice on whats wrong it would be much appreciated. ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - Dead Eye - 29-04-13 Oh dear, another poor stuttering Fazer ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - darrsi - 29-04-13 What air filter are you using? Wouldn't be Hi-Flo perchance? Was it happening before you cleaned the carbs? Re: Problem at high revs - Gnasher - 29-04-13 Check that ALL the cold start plungers are fully returning on ALL crabs and the condition of the balancing tube caps. Re: Problem at high revs - red98 - 29-04-13 :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes Re: Problem at high revs - bignoggin - 29-04-13 It was happening before i cleaned the carbs and i bought a genuine Yamaha filter. Oh okay, i had a similar problem a while back and it turned out to be a carb inlet rubber had folded in on itself when it was refitted, but as it was carb number 3 it couldn't be seen. Every time i used to give the bike a bit of welly, or overtake, it would just bog down as described. Just a thought....... The symptoms described are pointing towards too leaner mixture. Re: Problem at high revs - unfazed - 30-04-13 Remove the the rubber plugs on the vacuum take off points and check them for cracks, they perish and crack and may need replacing. Other issue may be loose plug caps, remove the caps and cut about 10mm of the end of the leads and refit the caps. Re: Problem at high revs - darrsi - 30-04-13 Still sounds like a minor air problem to me....... Re: Problem at high revs - bignoggin - 30-04-13 I've only just notice as well it's only started since I've had my alarm taken off by a local motorcycle shop could that have anything to do with it Re: Problem at high revs - unfazed - 01-05-13 Check the old problem of loose or poorly reconnected wires after removal of the alarm. Make sure you haven't got a kinked fuel line anywhere, and it may even be worth changing your fuel filter for the sake of a few quid too. Too much air can also mean not enough fuel, if you have a bit of crap in your filter you may be getting an intermittent blockage, which could be noticeable at high revs when the fuel needs to flow consistently for full effect. Re: Problem at high revs - red98 - 08-05-13 any news ? ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - bignoggin - 03-06-13 problem solved i got a mate of mine to clean the carbs properly for me, he notice that one of the main jets had some dirt in, the problem seems to be solved now and the bike still pulls like a train even with 65000 miles on the clock ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - red98 - 03-06-13 (03-06-13, 10:50 AM)bignoggin link Wrote: problem solved i got a mate of mine to clean the carbs properly for me, he notice that one of the main jets had some dirt in, the problem seems to be solved now and the bike still pulls like a train even with 65000 miles on the clock nice one BIGNOGGIN ![]() ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - ade the blade - 03-06-13 (03-06-13, 11:38 AM)red98 link Wrote:
nice one BIGNOGGIN ![]() ![]()
why do i get the feeling that was said through very gritted teeth, mate? :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin Re: Problem at high revs - red98 - 03-06-13 (03-06-13, 12:27 PM)ade the blade link Wrote:
nice one BIGNOGGIN ![]() ![]()
why do i get the feeling that was said through very gritted teeth, mate? :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin
:lol :lol :lol .....read me like a book ,matey :lol :lol ....just glad i have the thou ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - bignoggin - 13-06-13 went out on my bike the weekend and gave it some and its bogging again ![]() Re: Problem at high revs - darrsi - 13-06-13 What about the carb rubbers themselves, they can deteriorate over time, maybe worth checking for cracking or splitting causing too much air intake. |
