Front Wheel Bearings - old son - 18-04-12 Is there anybody in SE London/Kent that would be able to replace my front wheel bearings if I delivered the wheel and the bearings? Re: Front Wheel Bearings - Falcon 269 - 18-04-12 Yes, mate ... you! Seriously, this is well within your capabilities. ![]() Unlike the rear wheel bearings, the fronts are easy to get out. Likewise, fitting the new ones is a breeze. No special tools required. A long drift or old screwdriver and mallet will take care of the removal. Tap in the new ones with a socket the same size as the outer race. Doddle. By the time you've taken the wheel to someone else, you could have changed the bearings and refitted it yourself. Re: Front Wheel Bearings - devilsyam - 18-04-12 fitting the new ones is a breeze dont forget to put the spacer back in and dont ask me why i should remind you Re: Front Wheel Bearings - old son - 18-04-12 Hi Mike, I thought they would be similar to the rears and the guy had to weld a piece on the outer race to give him something to knock out with the drift. Putting the new ones in he used a masive big hammer, if he had missed the bearing he would have broke the wheel in half. lol I'll dig out the bearings and give it a try. On your head be it!!!!! Thanks Luke. I am going to give it a try. Re: Front Wheel Bearings - ghostbiker - 18-04-12 Yup front is simple, rear nearly alllways ends up at my local shop to finish. Re: Front Wheel Bearings - Falcon 269 - 18-04-12 Hi mate ![]() I assume you've removed bearings before but if you want any more information, drop me a line. Cheers! Mike Re: Front Wheel Bearings - old son - 18-04-12 Thanks Mike, PM left Re: Front Wheel Bearings - old son - 26-04-12 OK, wheel bearings replaced, easy, easy easy!!!! Thing is, the noise I suspected would be noisey wheel bearings (bike has covered nearly 60k miles) is still there :'( It must be tyre noise. The front doesn't feel any different. I know it must be because its new. At least its done now. Re: Front Wheel Bearings - Falcon 269 - 26-04-12 Well done, mate. ![]() Re: Front Wheel Bearings - old son - 26-04-12 and thank you Mike for your invaluable help as usual ![]() |
