Ignition advancer - nickodemon - 20-03-12 I've got a +4 degree advancer on my full monty gen 1 fazer. There isn't that much of a difference compared to the standard advancer, but i also have a stock fazer with only a fairly quite race can (venom) fitted and was wondering if an ignition advancer would improve it. I know the best thing to do is fit an ivans kit, but i've already got one of those! 8) and just wanted a fairly cheap way to get crisper throttle response and also remove the very slight surging you get with the stock bike. Cheers in advance - Get it! :rollin Re: Ignition advancer - Falcon 269 - 20-03-12 Hi Nick Do Eskort's advancer mod: http://www.yamahafz1oa.com/eskortsadvancermod.shtml I've done it on mine and it's the cheapest way to get an advancer. See what you did there ... ![]() Re: Ignition advancer - nickodemon - 20-03-12 Thanks mike, that's a definite option. I can get a factory pro on fleabay from America for £50 inc postage. Do they make a good improvement to a standard gen1? Re: Ignition advancer - Falcon 269 - 20-03-12 Yes, still worth doing. Don't drop that kind of cash into one, though. Go the DIY route - it's so easy. ![]() Re: Ignition advancer - chitsu - 21-03-12 Sorry bout the thread hijack here, but I thought Ivan strongly advised against advancers on these with 'STOCK' compression ? Installation time for this kit is just 15 minutes more than any other kit. See the review of our Slip-on kit in : Motorcyclist magazine - January 2003 Motorcycle Consumer News - July, August ?? 2004 IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember! This is an R1 motor. Ignition advancers are notrecommended unless you have significantly raised the compression! See our dyno test in the FZ-1 comparisons section below.... *For information regarding the FZ-1 Engine Kits, please contact Ivan directly at: <blockquote> <blockquote> Ivan's Rockland County Motorcycle 175 N. The benefits are most noticeable sub-4k rpm and it doesn't increase vibes until well up the tacho scale, by which time there's plenty of other things buzzin' away as well. ![]() Re: Ignition advancer - nickodemon - 21-03-12 I agree with mike. The bike is definitely better under 5k, but i haven't noticed any extra vibes. I remember looking at dyno graphs a few years ago which showed improvements low down, slight improvement midrange and at 10'000 revs + it was down about 1-2 hp. I prefer driveability to outright power. Re: Ignition advancer - chitsu - 21-03-12 O! O.K Mike thanks for that. Looks like I will have to take a file to the ignition rotor the next time I get a spare mo. Top effort, thank you very much ![]() |
