Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - tony_d123 - 08-06-17 What a shame, but keep at it. It's great to see someone riding something other than race reps ![]() Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 09-06-17 Yes,spoilt a good weekend, had 4 good races inthe two days before the accident. We all think we go fast on the road but until you get on the grid with 35 other bikes Ang go into that first bend then you realise what a bike will do. Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 09-06-17 This is oulton park ![]() Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 09-06-17 ![]() Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 09-06-17 ![]() Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 10-06-17 Those last three were donnington park This is the top of the mountain at Cadwell, the bike behind took me out a lap later ![]() Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - Dudeofrude - 10-06-17 Just out of interest do you get any compensation from the guy who crashed into you? I know you take risks with racing but since none of it was your fault and presumably your gonna be at a financial disadvantage then I didn't know if he had an obligation to compensate you at all? Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 11-06-17 I have not asked as I guess the rider will always deny it was his fault. A mate tracked down the blokes Facebook on which he claims he was punted off by the fazer ,it is open page so I asked how he got punted off to which he answered that I rode dangerous lines a rode a bike too fast for me, lol All the lap times are on the club's results page and the rider did his fastest lap of the weekend on the lap he hit me and the one previous, so he had not been that speed before and then he got brave,,,chnt Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - fireblake - 11-06-17 What a chnt . I hope you recover quickly and with no long term effect's. I'm doing a track day at Caldwell next month. Any tips? Mickey Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 11-06-17 Tips, haha, we had practice day on Friday, fastish but careful, 1.53 First race Saturday 1.51 Second race 1.46 and same both races Sunday. We are on race tyres 190 ...60s so a very big sidewall and using warmers, the road tyres 50 or 55 are less tall bigger flat area for roadriding. Smaller sidewalls. Anyway it's a fast track off the start, needs power, back off slightly into the first uphill lefthander but push as soon as you turn in, it's very safe but the next right is blind so turn very fast two corners very late apex, keep the speed up.up to fifth flavour back straight, brake at 250 marker, it's fast haha, make corner right then it speeds up and up, on the power with a good lean,,,you will love it, brilliant f Track. Late to the party, but just spotted this. Unlucky mate, but ribs are minor :lol I would have doubted there are any claims to be had; all at rider's risk? Good to see you really getting into this, wish I could afford to, financially and physically! Always wanted to do Donington since watching Schwartz and Merkel battling it out - GSXR and VF - oh, aeons ago :rolleyes Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 12-06-17 Yes Nick it is crazy fun, with these tyres we are cornering at amazing speeds. Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - 5LV - 14-06-17 you need to report rider to your club secretary. you had an orange bib on which means novice racer. if he doesn't understand that and tried to be a hero (or not be beaten by a novice more likely) then he is a danger on track and should not be allowed to compete. Racing is risky.........but you don't need stupid chnts making it dangerous too. I'm doing a track day the week before at Bedford to ease me into Cadwell, so hopefully I'll get in to the swing quickly. All the best again for your recovery. Mickey Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - kitcrazy - 19-06-17 Looks great slim love the colour mate. Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 05-07-17 Thanks Mel, Now i have recovered, ribs 90 % no pain, will miss this weekend races at castle combed, Wiltshire, So will start to dismantle it and see how deep the damage is, I put in some serious sub frames under front and rear fairing so they are nearly intact, just cracked. Hope it has nor damaged frame. Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - Lord_D - 05-07-17 Cracking project mate. GWS! Also on the next two occasions I cracked them. But the next time, well, I still have pain from that one :lol This has been a good thread to follow Bill; hope we'll be seeing more soon :thumbup Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 06-07-17 Hi Nick, hope you are all good and the bones creaking :lol Had a look last night, I think I can salvage the master cylinder, just need alloy cap, gasket, washer, screws, it all got ripped off, threads still work as stubs of screws unscrewed ok. Got to remove fairing, brackets twisted, rear wheel had a dent inward on rim, 3" long, I can bash this out, these rims are very soft, have banged dents from front and rear ones. Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 06-07-17 The crash bungs did there job, got scuffed but no bike metal damage both sides hit tarmac and upside down, just screen and brake fluid cap |
