Hi Slim, Nice job looks really cool.  I know you can MOT a bike as a daytime ride only, so no lights needed does that also go for a rear brake light as I noticed you don't appear to have one?
Just asking the question as I'm not sure I would not want to ride on the road without one, seems a sure fire way of getting tail ended.

I think it looks terrific - good work! It's truly amazing what can be achieved with some time and good ideas.

I am not sure Tommy, I got the MOT done before I started in January,,lots of bikes with no lights on the roads ,  have been out for a spin and forgot to put my barend mirror on, that would be a help.

A couple of skims of filler and paint on the pan , should get it on tomorrow night. Smile

Bloody hell Bill, with all your fibreglass skills you'll be knocking up a Reliant Robin soon  :rolleyes

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - dazza - 01-03-17

This bike is starting to remind me of one of my old girlfriends. In the right light or from far enough away, she looked pukka.  :lol

Or a golf buggy,, I messed up really, only second time I have tried fibreglass, I used the finish thick coat instead of the thinner resin to paste the fibreglass, so its thick and glulike, so it had a rough finish so I smoothed it with isopon. :lol

I am out with it on Saturday at Pembrey race circuit doing my ACU race licence course and riding with the clubs test day there on Sunday.

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 06-03-17

Well that went well, now have an ACU race licence  :eek

Did some good wet riding on track, sorted a few of them boy racers out,,and some not,,some guys ride so fast and smooth, lovely to have them sail past and crank it over into a corner in front of you,,Fazer went real well, on speed, acceleration it is fine, fast enough for me, front wheel up loads of times.

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 11-04-17

Well i did my first race ,Oulton Park, test day went well,,then race day Saturday 8th April,
Got my lap times down to 2.03 minutes, lap speed average 78 mph , I was well happy with that.
I have never ridden that fast on track before, sure makes you concentrate.

And the bike went real well, apart from brake judder in second race, must have cooked the pads

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 12-04-17

a good lean

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - dazza - 12-04-17

Brilliant stuff Slim. So what you using on the road now ? The Blade ?
Am down your way this weekend with my brother on his Frankensteined ZX9R.......Wanna race ?  :lol

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 12-04-17

Hi Dazza, i have not been on the roads lately, what with building this bike, and of course on track time.

But yes the blade is on the road,,give me a call , may be able to get out for a spin.

Maybe look up Ogri !!

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 15-05-17

Two dry days racing at Donnington Park , Fazer went well , by no means last, 26th from 38 riders. We form a group of riders with similar lap times so you have to keep repassing them straight away , frighten them back.lol :lol. Had an R1 pass me though, took two laps to retrain him.

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 15-05-17

First pic you can see them trying to pass me,
second pic they are following me down the craner curves
and third pic is the chequered flag with them still behind me. Bloody brilliant fun.

On second to last lap I thought I was getting a bit near my limit so thought if no one too close to me I will be ok,,so I took a look behind and hell,,right there were 8 bikes, hell I had to hold on tight and make no mistakes, it worked though,,

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 07-06-17

Well I am spending a couple of days in hospital, had a brilliant 3 days racing at Caldwell park, then last race, last lap the bike behind decides to do a suicide move inside a corner taking my back end out, me up in the air and flat onto road, two broken ribs, a bit sore.
Bike both sides and top so need some spares, will kiss the next two races and my trip to assen to see moto gp
I will be back?

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - dazza - 07-06-17

Sorry to hear this Slim. There are some things that are out of your control, this sounds like one of them. Hope you mend soon and get back at it.

Re: Making a track bike from my Fz1s - slimwilly - 08-06-17

Yes, miss a couple of races but will fix me and the bike, cheers dazza
