Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 13-05-15

Bit more progress this evening.removed front engine mount, oil cooler and cam cover.......next job is to mask everything and start prepping the surface... Smile

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 14-05-15

Sanded the cam cover today, just needs a rub over with some panel wipe and then all 4 covers will be ready for paint, just about to order new gaskets, was going to start masking tonight but its been a long day at work today and tomorrows going to be worse  :\......roll on the weekend  Wink

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 14-05-15

looking good red!

Re: engine re-paint, silver - Andy FZS - 15-05-15

When I removed my timing cover to fit an ignition advancer I just used a small amount of gasket paste when I refitted it.

Re: engine re-paint, silver - unfazed - 15-05-15

Wonder how it would look with black covers and a silver engine?  :eek

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 15-05-15

Funny you should say that UNFAZED...the round plug in the timing cover is rubber/plastic and I dont really want to paint it, its just starting to flake on the edges, hardly noticeable but I know its there  :rolleyes  so was thinking of stripping the silver off and leaving it black.........might work...

instant gasket it is then for the timing cover  :thumbup

no work on the fazer today, started work at 7 this morning and only just got in.....time to chill  Wink

not black but dark enough to get the idea

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 18-05-15

Mmmmmm, not bad, I have a black frame which I think will help...

busy with other things at the weekend so no fazer fiddling, did have a hour in the garage tonight though and made a start on the masking.

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 20-05-15

Bought a few bits and pieces on the way home tonight, a bit more masking and blasted , cleaned and painted the front engine mount to give me a bit of motivation to get the job done  Wink

Re: engine re-paint, silver - Tmation - 22-05-15

It would have been quicker and easier to have pulled the engine out than do all that masking up  :eek

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 22-05-15

Re: engine re-paint, silver - red98 - 24-05-15

Up early this morning, finisned sanding the block, scotchbright pad all over, bit more masking and I think all the hard work is now done, next is to give it a blow down and a wipe over with some panel wipe ....should have some paint on later today, ill post a piccie so SLIMWILLY can watch it dry  :lol

will give the garage a quick tidy before I start, why I have to completely empty my tool box and spread the contents over the floor to do a simple job ill never know  :o
