cheers mate, but the bending and twisting aint the issue - its getting it true, a set square, unbent and untwisted through the 3 axials (pitch, roll and yaw - to put it into terms I would use in my day job). I've got the level parallel with the ground with a spririt level, so the nose is level with the ground, same on the X axis rotation. But for the life of me I cant get the thing equal around the Y rotation (left/right). Anyway, as I said, close to giving up now and buying new from overseas  . especially as this thread has been infiltrated by darrsi scheming ideas  :lol

I have also contacted other fleabayers who were listing similar items. I am making progress with a new item from overseas so no real rush.

As for buying crap from a dodgy trade as suggested above - try your luck - it won't be me that's out of pocket - fool  :nana

Dodgy trade? What are you talking about?

The level was to check... Not to bash !

I did mine, (bought a cat c gen 1)  using poles etc but had to use acetylene gun to get them spot on.  Using levers gets em near right but you can't control the bend points accurately without heat.
