Beat Punkstig at his own game! :lol :lol :lol Re: project fazer - Fuzzy - 21-11-13 This is what I'd do and I don't think it'd cost much. Almost did it when I smashed a fairing a while back. Keep oem clocks, spray the white back panel black. Get a high quality round single headlight, 7" min or a bit bigger looks good, lots of oem ones on ebay and mount it so it's quite low. Mount clocks in a similar position to standard - could use the standard fairing/speedo bracket but remove/chop off the unneeded bits? Then get a nice looking screen, will cover up the back of the clocks and make it look a lot neater (guess you wouldn't need to spray the clocks if the screen is dark/opaque). Good quality & nice looking mirrors, again oem is usually the best, and the Fazer's lever clamps on the bars have mirrors holes already. I think the key is to keep it fairly simple but make sure it looks clean and the parts are of good quality. Re: project fazer - Fuzzy - 21-11-13 I reckon this guy's done a good job http://tablica.pl/oferta/yamaha-fazer-fzs-600-mozliwa-zamiana-CID5-ID312dz.html Re: project fazer - Punkstig - 21-11-13 Café racer is last year, flat tracker is the new cool, I was hoping to get hold of a 400 to flat track, but they don't come up often! Re: project fazer - red98 - 21-11-13 starting to think the cafe racer look might not suit the fazer.....think you right DUDENESS ![]() Re: project fazer - kebab19 - 21-11-13 You finally fixed the other one? What was the problem with it? I gave up reading the thread after 36 pages or so :z Re: project fazer - red98 - 21-11-13 regulator ![]() Re: project fazer - His Dudeness - 22-11-13 (21-11-13, 10:17 PM)red98 link Wrote: regulator Even the forum is running smoother since you changed that regulator :lol Re: project fazer - red98 - 22-11-13 ha ha ha.......bloody quiet though :lol Re: project fazer - red98 - 01-12-13 thanks for the kempton link guys.....on next saturday and not far from me :lol ..i also have a couple of old jap bikes that i need parts for so think ill go, take me pick up and a bundle of cash with me......went to the brum show yesterday and did`nt buy anything, under orders you see :rolleyes , so must be able to buy something at kempton ![]() Re: project fazer - red98 - 19-04-14 found this at the back of the garage and had a play....headligh wiring was a mess so striped out and started again.all working now with twin halogen bulbs.should be an improvement on standard.not sure on the style though......clocks were mounted on the cross bar on the renthals in front of the ignition .a bit in your face so made a cardboard pattern to mount on the back.to be made in sheet steel and mounted on the under side of top yoke....... Re: project fazer - ChristoT - 19-04-14 Now see here, two threads called Project Fazer? This'll just confuse people! :b Re: project fazer - red98 - 19-04-14 Makes it interesting :lol.......mines running is yours :rolleyes Re: project fazer - red98 - 20-04-14 Bit more fiddling today, cut the base plate from 2mm to keep things rigid and the sides from 1.5 mm.hammered round an axle stand mounted in a vice with a rubber mallet...see if I can spot weld it together tomorrow ![]() Re: project fazer - red98 - 27-04-14 Bit more fazer fettling today, spot welded the clock cover, let it cool to prevent any distortion, offered back up to clocks to check fit and all is still good, went to seam weld the joins and ran out of gas... :o Re: project fazer - red98 - 27-04-14 Turned my attention to the top yoke, going to mount the clocks to the underside of the top yoke using the taped hole that holds the cable tidy , theres a blank in the yoke on the other side which I will bore and tap.. Re: project fazer - MarkWales - 27-04-14 Looking good Re: project fazer - red98 - 27-04-14 cheers mark......once fully welded i will grind the bottom plate and welds flush with the sides and soften the edges, before spot welding i assembled leaving 1.5mm gap between the base and sides for this reason.....i think it might look a bit bulky but had to be this size to accomadate the wiring and plug for the speedo etc....need to make a couple of straps to mount it,25mm strip steel with two holes at one end to mount to cover and one at other end to bolt to yoke. Re: project fazer - red98 - 28-04-14 what better way to spend your lunch break than a bit of fazer fettling....bored and tapped the extra hole i need to mount the clocks.and gave the top yoke a polish and clean and refitted. |
