Hailwood is my all time hero ( I actually met him once, I was about 14) but Ago was an incredible rider. Re: The cool bike thread...... - coffee - 19-01-20 Thing is a lot of those titles were won against manx nortons,G50's,patons,Jawas' etc when the Japs pulled out,Agostini had very little competition for a good few years and when he did he'd struggle against the likes of Saarinen and when Phil Read started beating him after joining MV he was soon on his way.As far as I'm concerned his best days were the sixties when he had some great battles with Hailwood,Read,Ivy,etc, but one of the greatest? on paper maybe but I don't think he deserves to be classed amongst the really great, great riders.Imo he showed his true colours when he shafted Eddie Lawson when he was riding for Marlboro,Eddie asked Ago if the deal was going to be the same as last season and he said they'd pulled the funding and it was going to be a struggle to find funds, what he didn't know was Eddie was well in with the main man at Marlboro and when he questioned it he was told there was no problem with the funding and couldn't understand what Ago was on about, turns out Ago was creaming off the top and wanted to get Lawson as cheap as possible.Eddie jumped ship and won again,a proper great.IMO Re: The cool bike thread...... - VNA - 05-02-20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=82&v=iuuiHgzlgp8&feature=emb_logo Re: The cool bike thread...... - coffee - 07-02-20 You'd want understanding neighbours with that one!! :kiss Re: The cool bike thread...... - Oldgit - 08-02-20 Re: The cool bike thread...... - VNA - 08-02-20 Jesus :eek Re: The cool bike thread...... - Dudeofrude - 08-02-20 Not to my taste.. but certainly a head turner. And I'm sure there are plenty of people that would think its "cool" Re: The cool bike thread...... - vinnyb - 08-02-20 It's already been down by the look of it. That's not cool. :rollin Re: The cool bike thread...... - VNA - 08-02-20 Nothing that a small can of juice and some matches wouldn't fix.I mean seriously, that is one uncool motorcycle. :eek Re: The cool bike thread...... - fazersharp - 08-02-20 (08-02-20, 04:45 PM)Oldgit link Wrote:Fazersharp's bike ----

The race bike looks a bit of a mess, but here it is looking a little cooler; ![]() Re: The cool bike thread...... - unfazed - 09-02-20 It was a good engine, but frame design was iffy, clocked 175mph on the straight (in 1977) and ran high up in its debut endurance race until the Universal joint on the shaft drive broke. The location of the swinging arm pivot was totally wrong and it was putting huge strain on the UV joint, it finally broke. Rules changed to 4 cylinder make and the project was abandoned. The project did put a huge strain on their resources and the advanced Japanese 4 cylinders that finally nailed its coffin in 1985. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuVz9wY3p8s Brand is now owned by Piaggio Re: The cool bike thread...... - coffee - 10-02-20 (09-02-20, 12:18 PM)VNA link Wrote:Quote:Sometimes its best not to stand out too much. Was it really necessary to repost that thing, just as I am trying to unsee it? Re: The cool bike thread...... - VNA - 22-02-20 They are probably there so you can adjust your hair when you park up. Or just for glancing at now and again whilst riding, just so you can check how cool you look on the bike. |
