  Fork breather?
Posted by: rustyrider - 01-07-19, 01:00 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Hi folks, not been on here for ages but have now the need to ask a question of the great and wise.  Is there a breather hole anywhere on the front forks?  I ask because I've got a leaking right hand fork leg but not when being ridden, only when it gets hot.  I keep it in a sort of mini-conservatory so it gets quite warm in there and after a couple of days of sunshine I found this
[Image: Fbpn68L.jpg?1]
That's fork oil and it's dribbled down the fork leg, over the caliper, pads and disc and dropped onto the wheel.  It's only the RH leg and has only appeared since we got hot weather.  So is there a breather somewhere that has got blocked so as the temperature goes up, the pressure in the leg increases and is pushing the oil out past the seal rather than through a breather?

Manual Stop/Start at the lights and junctions
Posted by: F4celess - 01-07-19, 12:38 PM - Forum: General - Replies (16)

Do you kill the ignition when stopped for a prolonged duration while waiting at traffic lights, junctions, etc?

Was watching a youtuber who appeared to do this - however he did have quite a loud exhaust, so perhaps he does this as not to draw attention to himself (or kill the hearing of pedestrians walking by)... !?

However it would serve to save fuel plus your clutch (if you hold it in gear while waiting), plus more environmentally friendly Smile .
Any detrimental issues doing this? - would be effective like the automatic stop/start feature on some new cars.

  Fuel gauge gone wierd
Posted by: nitemare - 01-07-19, 09:34 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

I took the bike out for a ride yesterday after a long break. I noticed on the way back the fuel gauge shot up to to over FULL and the orange fuel light cam on  :eek . This seemed worse on the fast roads and dropped to normal-ish when I was in the 30's.

I would have said the fuel gauge was stuck but the orange light worries me. I have done nearly 100 miles off the full tank so should be around a quarter to a half full.

I should add that the bike seems to be revving okay...

Any ideas? And how easy is it to sort?

  Coil trouble
Posted by: StephenFZS600 - 30-06-19, 05:07 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with getting a spark to the engine. I've tested everything and the voltage stops at the coils, what resistance should I be looking for on the coil packs? Thanks

  Bahco spanner headsup.

Just ordered a set of Bahco ratcheting spanners. Not seen these before, but maybe I need to get out a bit more :lol . Each spanner head is a double ended socket and covers 2 metric sizes, so the set of 3 spanners in a pouch covers 12 sizes(8mm to 19mm going from memory). Ideal for carrying on the bike. £29.95

Crashed heavily at Assen today in free practise. Two vertebra damaged, so out for this and the next round in Germany. At least no-one will get skittled by him this weekend.(Bit harsh, but you know what I mean).
