Simple question which is the best chain Lube to use .

Too many personal choice answers!
I have a scottoiler but use gear oil or engine oil in it!

I tend to use Silkolene or Castrol, but only really cos they seem to be the most readily available. They all seem to do different ones (racing, Teflon, titanium, wax, lube etc etc etc til the cows come home), just confusing, but I reckon they all pretty much do the same job as well as each other. Got Silkolene "Titanium Dry Gel" at the mo, it goes on like a wax, which I don't really like cos it looks orrible, didn't realise it would look that way when I bought it - but, it is easy to see if you've applied it thoroughly. PJ1 used to do one that loads of people asked for specifically, don't know why or if it's still available.

I just got a new Wurth Dry Chain Lub.
Clean chain first, then spray on as you turn the wheel. (by hand).

When I can't get enough virgin sweat, I use Scottoiler as a secong best.

I use wurth dry chain lube and it's always been fine for me. I only really ride in nice weather or a bit of rain and the bike stays in the garage over winter. If I was to use it in the winter months I'd probably use the wurth chain wax for a bit of extra protection.

It's a personal choice thing though, got to try a few and see what works for you.

Silkolene semi synthetic in summer and Wurth dry chain lube in the winter, got 28,000 miles out my last one and only changed it as process of elimination when bike was making a weird noise over 30 mph. Silkolene seems to last well when weather is hot and dry, shitey road salt doesn't stick to your chain in winter in my experience.

Fitted a scottoiler on me bike today 40 min start to filled and primed

Although I did ring devilsyam halfway through for some pointers

Wurth dry chain lube for me. Effective and very clean with pretty much no fling.

Whatever the garage has in stock!! So long as the chain gets the cleaning and the lubrication it requires, you can't go far wrong!

Scottoiler with genuine oil in it, it's only £7 for a bottle and it lasts for ages.

To prime it quicker stick a footpump on the breather pipe and give it a few pumps.

OK, what about just using old engine oil, anyone use this exclusively?

I'm wondering if I just paint some on the chain when warm with a brush once a week will that do the trick over the winter,,,,,

I've known people who used exclusively engine oil and swore by it. The main downside of course is that it doesn't stay on for very long.

When I discovered a scotoiler on my bike I was going to remove it however, after commuting over 1000 miles in 2 weeks I am keeping it. The chain is the only clean thing on the bike! There is so little fling the wheel is wipe clean and not really any dirtier than the non chain side.

Scottoiler or Tutoro if you get fed up buying chains & sprockets. Can use any type of oil in the Scottoiler provided not too "thin"-I use the normal blue Scottoiler product or cheapo 80 SAE car type gear oil. Worth looking @ Scottoilers website for setting up advice eg correct positioning of " quill" by rear sprocket to avoid getting an oil slick on your back tyre
