Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion

Does anyone have experience converting a 600 to a 1000 using the fzs1000 engine amongst other things. I want to know how straight forward fitting the engine is as well as using r6 swing arm+ wheel and r1 forks+ wheel.......

I think you'll get numerous replies along the lines of buy a Thou and swap the forks/ swingarm etc on that instead of all that work on the 6

Would there not be weight issues on the frame to take into consideration as well?

Based on the likes of Bandit 1200 engines fitting into 600's?
No chance without extensive welding, grinding etc as the 1000 engine barely fits the original bike's frame. Even then you would have to ask yourself - would the 600's frame be able to handle another 40-50hp?
Also, virtually every part is different bar the front brake calipers - so it would probably end up costing twice as much as buying a 1000 in the first place, difficult (or at least expensive) to insure and it's unlikely anyone would buy it afterwards. Although potentially do-able, it makes as much sense as Millyard joining two Z1300 engines together

That's all very well, but it'll still look like a Fazer if you know what I mean.


Rather than say 'don't bother', I say if you're going to all the trouble of cutting & welding the frame etc. make something incredible!

I don't know... there is a certain appeal to being in something conservative from the outside to then leave others having to pick up their jaw after you speed off...

It would probably be easier to fit the frame into that engine rather than the engine into the frame, lol

Somebody rode one into my work and i couldn't believe how the engine consisted of so much metal, it's just a huge lump!  [size=78%] [/size]

It'd be interesting to see what more modern, larger capacity, physically smaller & lighter engine you could put in. I wonder if the MT-09 motor would be a good candidate.

Having owned a mk2 VW Golf GL with a 200bhp VR6 engine I totally see where you're coming from, but a Fazer 600 looks identical to a 1000 anyway, so it wouldn't look any more conservative really.

I know a man who made this incredible machine that you put wood chips in, it went through a dryer,then a huge compressor to make wood logs,a years work,,,more problems than you could imagine,,now the farmer who rented him the shed, told me,,"stupid fool,he is just making WOOD, " knowing that there is already wood.

Yes, fitting a 600 chassis would definitely be downgrading a gen 1...

Just buy a 1000 and swap the forks and swingers on that, would be a shed load easier and still have the same result, just the frame can (well, just about) take the power of the 1000!

one of the members has tried this but you would have to replace the whole lower cradle  . u also have to think about where will the drive sprocket be in relation to the swing arm /rear sprocket to low  you will get chain issues .the one advantage would be a big weight loss as the 1000 cradle  is heaver if y got the time money have a go but as been said would be easier to change forks wheels swinger etc for better ones also look at replacing the rear subframe { as it is steel for an ally one } doing these mods can give you a BIG weight loss see my 6 as this is what ive done and its 180kg wet  y wont get a 1000 that low but y would have a lot more power

I agree. Then tune up the motor to at least R1 levels and then you would have a real street sleeper. What ever you do make sure you post it on here.
