Lockable Sat Nav mounts?
« on: 05 August 2013, 08:57:07 pm »
Who makes 'em?

Touratech, for one, any others?

I need to get a sat nav sorted for my Blood Bike group, the bike will regularly be left outside hospitals etc, and since a) it isn't owned by the rider, and b) they'll often be on an urgent delivery, be very easy to leave the sat nav behind. So we want (need) it to be in a lockable cradle, to stop at least casual walk by thefts.

Any info / experiences much appreciated!

Dont know about lockable mounts but i have tom tom rider, it literally takes seconds to remove so wouldnt worry too much about lockable mounts.

I have the TomTom Rider and if I'm just getting off the bike for a second I'll just unclip the Sat Nav and put it in my lid, so I can't forget it!

Alternatively, there's a safety clip which goes from the SatNav to the mount (or the handlebars) which is made of a woven fabric with a trigger clip, but it would probably be possible to replace that with a chain and a lock that would stop a casual thief who wouldn't have the tools to cut through it quickly.
