Backfire on starting up.
« on: 24 July 2013, 06:47:15 pm »
Hi All

Pushed the start button this morning and got a backfire - which I wasn't expecting and which exercised the third eye a bit, I can tell you........  :eek

Started and ran fine -  but I have this nagging concern it may be a indication of something serious - and expensive.

Anyone else ever had this?

Ride safe.

Had it once.
Its fine, just unburnt fuel from when you turned it off.
If you get it consistantly then maybe something wrong, but nought to worry about if just the once.

Happens to mine every now and then. The latest occasion was just as the missus was about to get on the back of a motorbike for the first time, I could see the terror in her eyes

Loose plug caps.
Unscrew the caps and cut about 10mm off the end of the coil leads and screw the caps back on. Should solve the problem
