Proxxon tools, any good?

Regardless of the price, are these tools any good?Proxxon is a UK company (is it?), so guess some of the FOCcers might have given it a try.


 Looking for decent set of ratchet tools with sockets that won't cost an arm and a leg, but are good enough not to break themselves or strip bolts.

I agree. Halfords pro stuff is pretty good. Not snap-on good, but good enough for a home mechanic. I have been using them for years with no issues. And you get a lifetime gaurentee. No expensive shipping costs either.

Louis stuff I can get without much hassle. This would be a bit more troublesome (borders, taxes etc.). Though it doesn't look like good quality product - had some cheapo ones that deform when under heavy load, had one break once even. Call it prejudice: too shiny, plastic box, too much tools for too little money - just makes me raise an eyebrow. If someone's tried it and if it's good - then no problem.

Same impression about those Roxxon tools - never seen them at work, not sure about them either.

Halfords Advanced stuff is pretty good - their stock stuff is so-so in my opinion

Most of my kit at the moment is Torq though which is a cheapish brand but its performed well in all the tasks I've thrown up against it so can't complain I particularly like my 1/2" socket wrench - probably the best one I've owned so far but I haven't had many...

I also use Draper for some more heavy duty tools such as Torque Wrenches. I had a Silverline 1/2" Torque Wrench which sheered the drive straight off when trying to undo the hub nut on my car... but in all fairness the 750mm breaker bar didn't manage it either even with me stood on the end of it :| Needless to say that bolt was never undone :P

Do a Google for "halfords professional advanced" and ignore the halfords links.  If the opinions of the masses don't agree with yours then you should just buy what you want.

If people have tried it and it's good - I'm happy. Just to find a way to order it from Serbia.

Why are you undoing hub nuts with a torque wrench?

Double the power of many air guns. (It has snapped an impact socket though)
