Also the road from Devils Bridge back to the Elan Valley---in fact ALL the Welsh roads-I was last there 2 summers ago in heatwave. Don't forget to park on prom at Aberystwyth for obligatory bike comparison/ice creams :lol

Wales is the only place I ever got nicked for speeding and the copper complimented me on my riding! Wonderful place, beautiful roads, wonderful scenery (as, of course, you know, but I'm just indulging  :) ). Looks like you could be in for some decent weather too.

Hey Bri im about 50 miles down the coast from Aberystwyth & ive quite fancied the idea of  taking my tent on the bike & going somewhere as i trial for any later ventures.trouble is im just coming off night shift on the 1st but maybe the 2nd could be a possibility.
what's your plan of attack, campsite, plan etc, im up for proper chilling out & going out for some nice ride outs.I do like a good drink & a few cans in the eve would go down a treat but i dont wanna go on a drink fest if im going out riding as it spoils it for me not being 100% while on the road.
cheers

There's a meet happening on Shell Island with most getting their on the 28th to 30th. I is trying to get over but will probably be earlier in the week as some are already their. Its organised through Biker Mates if your interested. But remember the as the water is tidal you have to work round natures open and closed door times.

sounds grand bri 8) , i've still to explore snowdonia on the bike so id be up for that part, i can either meet you at devils bridge the night of the 1st then do Snowdonia or meet very early doors on the 2nd, pitch tent then do snowdonia and stay over the 2nd night.either way sounds good to me depending on how knackered i am.
i take it you are using devils bridge as the base camp or are you packing up and moving to a different site?
if the weather is good then i'm gonna try going budget basics and doss in my bivvy bag instead of taking a tent, tbc on that one though i think :rolleyes

I scoped out the campsite, very plush with all the facilities, excellento.what time you aiming to get to devils bridge on the 01st then bri?, i tend to have about 4 or 5 hours kip after a night watch so after a few hours mooching about drinking coffee and re adjusting to the world i could realistically be in devils bridge by about 6-7pm.
Be good if some more foccers are available, just an observation though this post is in general, not sure if it'll make any difference but you could possibly cut and paste this convo into the Events and Meets section.I'll do it with your permission if that sounds like voodoo to you.
cheers

Slim, you've put the camp in campsite this morning :lol , calm down ive checked the website & as well as no transit vans in the touring section there's a strict no rape policy in force :sex

All sounds good to me,like i said this is kinda a practice run for me to see what i can get by with & then learn from there.ill try going as light as possible since im just an overnighter,i only have proper leathers & boots for the bike so was gonna pack some lightweight shell type trousers & flip flops for casual wearing.that in mind i take it by going to aberystwyth on the evening you arent planning on visiting any fancy resteraunts are you???or do you mean a general mooch about, supermarket stock up etc.

Anyway thats enough questions for me for now, cant wait for snowdonia! 8)

Hello Fras. I was planning on finding a chip shop in Aberysywyth, im not good at resteraunts. Im travelling fairly light but i like my creature comforts now im old.:). Ive only realy camped at bsb meetings before so this is trial and error for me too. I might be going over the top for a couple of nights but having been camping a lot with the family i think i have most shit covered. Im practicing for a longer trip next year, maybe to belgium if im not still banned.(like i said seven years in the navy:))
