Number plate mod
« on: 15 June 2013, 11:57:02 am »
I would like to get a slightly small number plate but it looks like it might look a bit naff on the original under tray unit, has anyone cut their undertray down and if so can it be done neatly and what did you use to do it ?  :)

Trimed mine with a dermal but a hack saw would have been better as the dermal melted it rather than cut it. So then needed to go over it to clean it up.

I didn't trim mine a huge amount but I have seen others hack it back a long way.

2 words or caution, 1 you need a reflector so do as I did and leave the old one in place on its tab or as others do and stick a stick on one on the plate itself.
2 even cut back a little and you get a LOT more spray up the back. I meen a LOT :P

Will try to find a pic of it.

I cut mine back to just shorter than the number plate and stuck the reflector under the light where is says yamaha with double sided sticky  tape.

Trimmed mine with combination of sharp knife & cutting disc on grinder. Had to heat the housing where my indicators now bolt to get them straight & remount the reflector but I think it was worth the effort. Marked it with masking tape before cutting to be sure I liked the lines.
