Any ideas for a 125cc

isn't this a case of the heart ruling the head? - if I was a youngster I know I would be looking at the sporty 125s but they come at a horrendous price-from memory the Yamaha is over £4k OTR! The performance of the Aprilia comes dear-not only in terms of the expensive fully synthetic 2-stroke oil it demands but also it is a very high revving motor requiring frequent top-end rebuilds. Can remember thrashing everything I rode to within an inch of its life-they loved me at the parts dept!   But most of us don't buy bikes like a lot of people buy cars!

Hey slim,just to give you an idea rather than your nephew then check out this little cbr for £1300.


Look quite sporty to me & will be bulletproof but i can sympathise with him wanting what he likes the look of, on the flip side though for a while i thought i wanted something sportier looking than the fazer & felt like i was just reluctantly taking my old mans advice & short changing myself but foc am i glad i did as it is sporty without needing to look it.

Best piece of advice I had was: Take your budget, slash it, spend the rest on training, because you're far better off riding a cheap piece of junk properly than buying a shiny expensive bike and stacking it into a hedge.

With this in mind, I spent £300 on a 30 year old GS125 which I can sell for the same cash, and freed up more for better training. And it really has paid off.

Avoid Hyosung for another few years as well. Unless he wants to wash it every day and is handy with spanners
