Yeah this engine was unveiled several months ago at one of the big shows, surprised that you missed it. Lots of press about it.

I had an email from Yam about which linked to the following:

Yamaha - The Dark Side of Japan

Pretty vague, was hoping it would be the new R1 to compete with the S1000RR, RSV4 and the Panigale but seems unlikely! Most likely to be their new triple I think.

While we’re still waiting for confirmation on the details of the first bike it will appear in, it’s already certain that triples will feature in multiple capacities, and across several different types of machine.

They wil probably make a big fuss about the engine and forget about the suspension and comfy seat. :\

At some point hopefully a Fazer type bike which is fun to ride, like Triumphs Street Triple, decent 1/2 fairing like the Fazer8, comfy seat like the Gen1 1000, fuel ecomomy of a BMW 800 twin.

And they will call it the XS750 or XS850 depending on capacity and give it shaft drive.
Weird. History repeating itself?
Its better to ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake.
