This time next week
« on: 01 April 2013, 06:26:45 pm »
I will be enjoying the vin rouge (or beer) in Charchigne.

Off to France with my eldest for a few days abusing the French roads on our motorbikes. Should be an enlightening trip for him as he only passed his test in August and as never driven/ridden abroad.

Enjoy it gents  8)  Do the same rules apply to bikes in France that they apply to cars, hi viz, triangle and spare bulbs etc?
I fancy doing a short WW1 battlefield tour on mine, probably next summer. Managed to trace great great Grandad's war grave
and fancy going over to pay my respects.

Spare bulbs, breathalyser yes but have read they dropped that idea. Warning triangle no. Hi viz not sure but have one anyway as wll as the breath kit.

I have been over several times but this will be his first.

No need for Hi-Vis, but you do need relective patches.

Where are you riding? If you come near Brittany, pop me a PM, we can meet up for a beer!

I will be staying in Charchigne. Will spend Monday riding round Domfont, Bangnoles, Lassay-les-chateaux etc. after the ride down from Le Harve on Monday morning and will probably head down towards Le Mans on Tuesday as my son suggested he would like to see the circuit there.

Not sure about Wednesday morning yet but probably just around Normandy on the way back to Le Harve for the evening ferry home.

How hot are they on this? I was over there last summer and didn't have any but I am more worried about my son getting pulled as I don't want to get him put off riding in France.

Not too sure, I stay clear of the Gendarmes when I can...  ;) I have reflective pinstripes on my jacket, and stickers on my helmet. No probs so far (and I spent all last summer in France on my 125.)  :)

Cheers. I wont worry about them then. I can always plead ignorance and put on the hi-viz if required.

Pitt, I heard that the breathalyser part had been partially suspended. In other words, its an offence not to have one but no fine is payable now due to arguments within France while they sort it out.
