Blazing Row
« on: 31 March 2013, 04:47:05 pm »
Its like this. New tax disc has gone missing which means I can not go for a blast tomorrow. There are two possibilities:

1. Shredder the dog has taken a liking to it and has miraculously cleaned all evidence of it.

Or

2. Her indoors has either thrown it out or moved it so I is forced to have an enjoyable day with the in-laws tomorrow.

Either way, shredder the dog gets the bed as I is in the dog house tonight. At least it will be very quiet for the next 3 months  :grumble

Well, in theory, if you have bought the tax disc you won't show up on ANPR cameras... only thing you need to watch out for is those who patrol the streets and notice the out of date disc where they can then do you for failing to display it. You usually get a 5 day grace at the beginning of every month if you are in the process of receiving it, but don't take my word on it.

Not sure what the cost is but I'm fairly sure you can request a replacement without forking out for more road tax - they'll still charge you though...

I now spend to much time not only on the bike but also on the PC and not enough on quality time together.

So what's not quality about been 2 up was my reply.

So as I site taking a ear bashing it is a point well taken  :\ . I is going to book her in for a CBT and see if our time together gets better. She can buy her own bike mind ya.

That's it I is off as suggested. I just can not do the right thing  :(

ANPR cameras as a general rule of thumb mostly capture the front plate of vehicles, so I wouldn't worry too much about them.
If you ride past a cop, he might run you through PNC,  but you will come up as legit. If you get stopped, then I suppose he 'could' prosecute for not displaying a disk, but it shows on PNC that you have one. He'll probably ask you why its not displayed, so tell him, They're not all robots!
I reckon that 99% of the time you  won't get bothered at all.

Get up at the crack of dawn, go out for a blast - it's very unlikely you'll get stopped, unless of course you're riding in such a way that you attract unwanted attention - get home satisfied and have a couple of beers, then you can either chill out and enjoy the company, or nod off and take the bollocking later  ;)

A couple of years ago, a tax disc for a car never turned up after about 10 days (done on line).

Rang them up and they just sent another - no fee mentioned. Both arrived in the same post a few days later...

Post not infallible I guess.

Cant remember the last time I saw a traffic cop.
Too much reliance on cameras these days.

@exupnut Scan your disc onto a pc and colour print that one to display - no harm done if it is nicked then, and u have the original to produce if required ^-^ but they won't look that closely

Update

Put my tour screen on today (and other jobs she don't see) at the risk of been ostracised by the old ganggoolies but got away with it after the awkward silence spent with the in-laws (they are nice people honest). After they left, it was the traps at dog races where the "hair is on the move" Kit on and out I went for some petrol for work (got away with that one as well as I is off for a couple of days).

Two hours later I did return to "where are we going" Reply "whats this we" Her indoors "why the tour screen" Reply "I is taking the bike away for a few days...." "YOU ARE, ARE YOU" Now I is in a dangerous position and even the dog has run for cover. So I said calmly "Yes, I am going to take myself off while you do your first 5 days on me at bike safe and get yourself a licence" To say I was smug is an understatement with a  :lol

Unsure how she has taken this as she has not said a word since 1801 and is now in bed. I is not in a hurry to find out if its another night in the dog house because when I think I have got it right I could not be so wrong on a regular basis, so I is told.

Thanks for the suggestions and I now need a photocopier (she loves me she loves me not)

I think i might be joining you in the dog house.I had a bit of a fight with the throttle cable lubing malarky and found a good way to get engine oil between the cables and sleeves is to use the little jug she has for filling the iron. I dont think shes noticed its gone yet and with any luck she wont remember me wandering about with spanners and put two and two together. Anyway the jugs mine now
