when your payed THAT much money pulling in to the wrong pits is such a stupid mistake to make.  :o i am sure his embarrised looks were more about his team mate and the teams choice.

and i know it will never happen but vettel should be punished hard by his team, a race ban would put him in his place and let him know he inst the only person in a team. but as i say, it will never happen and he will at most get an insignificant fine.

He did look embarrassed by his actions but I was more shocked to hear an f1 driver own up to a mistake and not try and blame something else.

Webber should've been told to move over and let him pass.

Why, because he's second class (in the team's eyes) ?

Vettel needs to learn he drives for a team first, and himself second. Rosberg managed it...

Not at all.  Because Vettel was faster.

The important thing, for the team, is 1-2. They had that, and the team decision, and team orders (which are allowed), were that they finish in the order they were running. Webber, then Vettel.

Team orders shouldn't be allowed imo. It's either a race or it isn't.

This.

Or should Vettel have to take a hit on points despite being faster than Webber?

That's a different question. Team orders used to be against the rules (and teams were penalised for using them). For whatever reason, the FIA decided to start allowing them. The teams, and drivers, have to work within those rules. Vettel didn't follow instructions from his boss, and even deliberately ignored them. Any other job, that would be a disciplinary, no different here!

If you don't like the rules, watch a different championship!

If a few more races finish up the way it did on the weekend with such blatant choreographing I'd say that's what people will do. Rosberg staying behind Hamilton was ridiculous. He could have sailed by Hamilton with no risk to either car. If Hamilton was under fueled tough shite! Why should Rosberg be penalised for that?

You'd have to ask the team. Their call.

Anyways....

I'd say Vettel was gutted when he passed Webber and drove off into the distance :lol

When you're paid as much as you are by these teams, you do what you're told or you go and drive for someone else.

As for the Team Orders, this used to happen covertly in the past (some examples more blatant than others, admittedly), but they would have coded signals to tell the drivers what to do. There's really no way of stopping this, so you might as well bite the bullet and let it happen openly.

Aye, they probably will. But if they don't punish him (and a race suspension is the only way to do that, he aint going to miss a few quid is he :lol ), then they're sending a poor signal as to who has control in the team. Makes it more likely they'll lose Webber whether they like it or not?

They'd be shooting themselves in foot if they suspended him. He'll probably get a stern talking to and they'll make him watch a half hour powerpoint presentation on teamwork :lol

with the hamelton issue rossa was asked to stay behind because the team were worried about fuel in BOTH cars. they also knew if the let him past hammy would want to keep up to show he could and would end up both running out of fuel.
huge mistake on the teams part but the orders were for a good solid reason.

With vettel it wasnt as clear cut, though there were tyre worrys and not wanting to stress the car more than needed with such a window to 3rd/4th i would have prefered to let them both race. (and take them both out as i think vettel is a spoilt prick anyway)
but the team made a choice for reasons we dont know and as said above by others its his JOB to drive FOR the team. a cash punishment is pointless and a race ban will never happen (though i would like to see it) so if it were my team i would make sure he is punished in some other way.

It said in paper that Webber turned his engine down to look after it. They'd already raced each other earlier and Vettel probably just couldn't accept that he'd lost. Nothing will happen to Vettel, Webber might leave though.

But he hadn't lost, they'd only done 3/4 of the race  :look

Imo team orders should be banned again, but then F1 is pretty boring now so I tend to watch the Aussie V8s and Utes.
