Hmmm that's quite a good point. You could have it motion activated and as long as it only draws a relatively low amount of current it could come on for a few second as you walk towards the bike.... but then again I could just use a torch.

Could be connected direct to battery and have a waterproof switch on the outside of the bike to activate? Mind you, its a lot of work :P

Normal luminous paint only works by shining a light on it, this paint lights itself so it has a purpose.

Err, yes, it "absorbs" light energy when it's light and then gradually releases it so it shines in the dark...

There's also fluorescent paint that absorbs high wavelength light and releases lower wavelength light that is visible.
