Ok people, lets hear what you rate as your favorite album.... now I know all the obvious ones, the rock classics - dark side of the moon, sabbath, tubular bells, zeppelin etc etc, I am talking about the surprise gems, the ones that you didnt expect to be any good but actually blew you away, the ones that you keep wanting to hear every song again.... just as soon as the next one finishes cos you wanna hear this one too, and the next and the next.... the albums that everyone says 'really? Why?' until you sit them down to listen to it! The albums thatyou bought on a whim then discovered that every song is a belter!

I will start it off with Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

I was expecting a bit of emo whinging and discovered a... well, lets just say it is probably the best album as a whole thing, start to finish, since Division Bell by Floyd

Oh god, there are far tooo many. I am a big fan of soundtracks,  specifically for games as of late...

But one of the more recent ones was Lindsey Stirling's self titled album. I knew she was good, but the album was much better than I was expecting :)

Demanufacture by Fear Factory, so good I have their logo on my arm.
The most recent Marina & the Diamonda record, pop genius.
Maiden and 7th son, album that made me realise music didn't have to be a guitar and a tubbist.
Epicloud by Devin Townsend, the ULTIMATE showman.
Waiting for the Sirens Call by New Order, proof of new tricks in old dogs.

Slammer, the work of idol hands. Saw them live in '92 and they were brilliant. Then they split. >:(
Metallica,  black album. Timeless classic metal!

Phenomenal live band, as superb as the albums are they pale when you are them live.
Sell your first born I'd you have to, but be sure to catch them live.

Blimey, thats a tough one.
Here are two.
Ricochet - Tangerine Dream.  Only two tracks on it, but for a live album its superb.
Troublegum - Therapy?  Bought because of   'Screamager' but cant find a bad track on it. Brilliant.
