When someone asks you what bike you have

Do you reply and tell them you own a Yamaha fazer 1000 or a Yamaha FZ1 ??

PS......I say this question is more aimed at the gen2 owners..

Its an fz1. Because of I called it a gen 2 fazer, 'non fazer' people wouldn't have a clue what I was on about, and if I said it was a 1000cc fazer, they'd think it was a gen 1.

I call mine a Fazer then go into more detail depending on their response, non-bikers usually struggle to understand that bike options don't end with scooters, Fireblades or a Harley Davidsons

I call mine my other woman so when talking to my wife the conversation usually starts with "when I was riding my other woman......" Or " I was riding my other woman hard and fast earlier"

Depends who's asking. If they are into bikes i call it a Fazer 1000 (It's a Gen 1). If they are not really interested and just asking to be polite i just say 'Yamaha'. It gets too complicated trying to explain any more than that sometimes

'fazer thousand'

bikers know exactly what it is, non bikers know that a 'thousand' is a big engine to put in a bike.

The general public just go blank when I say 'Yamaha Fazer thousand', so now when they ask, I just say 'black and about 160mph' and follow it up with, 'of course I've done 160 on it! Do you really think I bought it to just pootle around?'

Come to think of it, the last time I hit a high top speed on the Fazer, I got to 165ish sandwiched between 9 Ferraris as we whistled past Maranello on the Autoroute in Italy. I missed the turn off for the Ferrari factory by about 20 miles . . . That was one of those memories that you bank for when you're wearing slippers in the old folks home! Epic trip, that.

feck I have never named any bike I have owned...and that is literally dozens over the last 40 yrs...I have had affections for bikes, based on performance or its dependability , or the way it make sme feel

my speed triple was always just the black beast or the bruiser , more a feeling in my mind than a true name, every ride had some moment !

.......My GS is just quirky, wacky ,how can this work so well ??, cant put a name to it at all

..... My fazer is mr dependable mostly

, but then more aptly "wolf in sheeps clothing" or "jekyll and hyde" when you give it some...

.The way the power sweeps you along on such an ordinary looking bike is amazing ...never could call her doris !

Non bikers seem to always ask me what cc my bike is which is stupid. When I say fazer it's the french who always give me a big smile back. Seems they love them out there. One frenchie said, ahhh yes... great wheelie bike! I just said I dont ride unicycles coz im not in the circus, but I dont think he understood. Someone I used to know called his fzs600 'the bat bike' which is pretty apt for a black, ie best, one, something about the fairing and angles that makes it look like its out of the early batman film, the good tim burton one.

My missus names my bikes. Gen 1 is called fazer, tuono v4 is called f#ck face ' because she hates going on the back' and falco is called tractor because it doesn't sound like an in line four..

When admiring her I call her lady or my girl
Mrs H has always called my bikes by size, but as I am down to one its just the bike to her now

Fazer thou or an FZ1, depends if they know a little or nothing about bikes.

Oh, and she's called Bumblebee, or 'Bee for short.

FZ6 was Sootica and the KTM was the batbike, at least when it wasn't that god awful piece of shite.
