Custom ear plugs

Has anyone had any of those "moulded " earplugs made to fit their own ears? if so are they any better than foam ones.


I am off to the shooting show in two weeks and sometimes there is a trade stand where they will make a copy of your ear hole,lol  [size=78%],canal[/size]

I've got some Ultimate ears, Squidgy and Soundears (http://www.ultimateear.com/motorcyclist.php). Not cheap but brilliant and so much easier to fit and more comfortable than foam plugs.
The only problem with the soundear is that the hole for the sound to come through is really small so can get blocked very easily.

I have ultimates too. I had to send mine back and have them redone as they didn't fit properly. They are ok now. Mine don't have the hole in them as I didn't want to use them with my intercom, so they work just fine.

Oh, I also wear them in the shower as I can't get water in my ears lol. They do make me a bit deaf to the doorbeel if I'm in the shower though...

Got a set of the DIY ones. Good - worth the money.

I've got custom ones made at specsavers  . They do hearing tests as well as glasses; whilst finding out how deaf I truely am I got custom plugs made using the same material/technique they use to make custom hearing aids. They work really really well, very comfy, sit inside the ear and easy to clean. Not bad price I think it was £40 for the pair, used everyday for the past 3/4 years and still work/look a treat! They look like the ultimate ear type.

good custom ones will cost about £100, as I lost one of mine I was looking into getting some new ones they should be replaced about every 4/5 years anyway, as I have severe tinnitus in left ear I have to get the best I can, found a place in London that I will go to when I need them, my old ones were made up at one of the mcn shows many years ago and I used them when at the cinema as its to loud for my left ear so now I have to use cheapo disposable ones.

I did read somewhere that they need a small hole through to let the air pressure equalise. is this necessary?

Mine don't have any holes, so I'm guessing at no, it doesn't matter. I know you can have them with, or without.

My squidgys don't have holes but the soundears do to let the sound from the speaker through.
