odd trio of occurences, 2 fuses popped and another.
« on: 23 January 2013, 01:27:17 pm »
Close to home last night, riding in a blizzard, the lights went out, all of them except the brake light. This was the 20A fuse under the seat. Replaced, fired her up, all okay. Turn ignition switch on this morning and zilch, the 30A main fuse had pooped. Checked things and replaced that, and all fine again. The really odd thing is I need to adjust the play on the clutch lever, and for the life of me I can't understand how that would have moved overnight. I'm thinking some dampness got in somewhere as never had electrical issues. The lights are not overly bright and thus pointing to a regulator issue, so will need to monitor it and see what happens.

Oh I will be indeed, after work. I think wet stuff got in somewhere as the blizzard was rather heavy. Thing is, the bike was sat there under the car port when the main fuse blew, it probably blew when I turned the key, maybe I didn't turn the key properly and buzzed it, I dunno

Hmmm. Left me without lights twice on way home so pretty obvious it's a lighting issue somewhere. Looked under tank. Wiggled wires. Squeezed looms. Looked for corrosion. A little on the four pin plug on the main relay so that was cleaned and silicon greased. Had bike running with all lights on and no prob do far. Hate open ended things like this. Tomorrow will tell. Spate fuses carried. Need to look in daylight. Also found pet pipe type clip by bike when the tank was up but none missing visibly. Prob been there a whole but has it? Aaaaaagh

I had a problem with my main fuses found it to be damp wear they are so i greased round the area to keep the moisture out was fine after that.
